“Most people live from ‘trance’ states or processes they need to awaken from to live more fully. The words trance and awaken are only descriptions and not complete. People live from their habits, from their conditioning and exercise little choice in the matter.
They repeat the same thoughts, feelings and behaviors daily. Yes, there is SOME variety but not much by comparison. People live from their limitations, frustrations, and less than glorious memories and moments they drag around through their life. We don’t have to.
BUT we do. We do until we wake up to the fact that we are mostly living from past programming which determines how we presently spend our days. Let’s return to the concept of trance and awakening. We often speak of processes as ‘things’. Fluids in a frozen condition.

Water as ice. As if it is a thing instead of something that flows. Our emotions ebb and flow. They move similarly to a bell curve. The begin and gain in intensity or signal value. They peak and subside. Truth is, they do it much faster than we think they do. We hang on.
We think of emotions as things or conditions. We think they’re frozen or permanent. They’re not. We speak of having depression, fear, anger or anxiety as if these are things we can have. As if they are unchangeable and permanent. They are not. They’re processes.
As for trance and awakening, I don’t mean them to mean anything other than how they are traditionally understood and misunderstood. Becoming aware is a process. Waking up from slumber is too. As is going into sleep; beginning, middle, end.

We’re a living organism of electrical/chemical processes. There really is no such thing as states but we use the word as a description of processes. The concept of state is a way of describing something NOT what it actually is. States aren’t things.
Words aren’t the things they are meant to represent. Allan Watts pointed this out by saying ‘the word water won’t make you wet.’ The way you think about these states or limitations tends to make them seem fixed when they are actually fluid. You can discover this.
But, you have to adjust your thinking. You can’t keep doing the same thing and expect it to be different. You can’t look at something repeatedly the same way and expect to find something new. You must change what you are doing. Change your perspective.

These are processes we experience in moments of time. They run on and on as they were conditioned to do while we were young and we continue to allow them to run on and on UNTIL we decide to take control and influence or change them. It’s time we awaken.
The better we at noticing these processes the more we may influence them. They are largely habitual and outside of conscious control. Yet, we can learn to change habits and direct our attention in different ways. We don’t have to be locked into what was.
All human expression is useful in the appropriate context, in differing times, places and with different people. Think ebb and flow. Everything is useful. It is also useful to wake up to our habits and alter them to better serve us. We can update ourselves.

The difference is that while we’re conditioned to do what we do now as young people, today we must deliberately and consciously take charge of the reprogramming or reconditioning process. It is the same as if we want to sculpt our body through exercise.
The conditioning process that happened outside of our awareness and without our permission from birth until about age 8 can be rewritten. This time however it requires conscious deliberate intent to make the changes. Then we engage in the reconditioning process.
This means we can get better results than we have been getting. No longer must we be victims of our unwanted thinking, feeling and behaviors. We can make positive changes that help us live life more fully with joy and success. We create the ME we want to be. Get it?

We must repeat the right thoughts, feelings and behaviors the same as we must eat, sleep and exercise right for body sculpting and good health. We must start a program. A regime. It doesn’t work haphazardly. You must commit. Once committed, massive change can occur. Perhaps, not all at once but certainly over time. When you are ready to wake up, you will.
