“Change happens one step at a time. It’s like climbing a staircase, and the first step is simply to feel a little bit better than where you are right now. If you’re feeling deeply down or intensely angry, aiming for joy can feel like an impossible leap. But moving from anger to frustration? That’s doable, and it’s a powerful move. The goal is to climb the ladder one rung at a time, getting just a little bit closer to feeling good with each step.
Making small powerful changes is easier than attempting great leaps. Anger and frustration are like a swinging door that can move in either direction. If enraged, sometimes the goal is to move from that intense anger to a place of frustration. Why? Because frustration isn’t as hot, and it’s a step in the direction of cooling down. You’re learning to temper your emotions, and in doing so, you’re gaining control over your focus and energy.
When you go from anger to frustration, you start to direct energy toward what you do want instead of letting negative feelings take control. The moment you recognize that shift, you’re back in the driver’s seat. And that’s what we’re working toward, a point where you get to decide where you’re going and how you feel about it. Make incremental steps toward feeling better. That’s the key. Bit by bit. Step by step. Drop by drop the tub fills.

You’re pulling yourself out of that pit of inertia and into a place where you can make changes. When stuck, MOVE!

The moment you reach that place where you say, ‘I can’t keep going on like this, something must change for the better,’ is powerful. It’s where change becomes not just possible but inevitable. Whether it’s anger, frustration, or fed-up resolve, use that intensity to pivot toward a new direction. When stuck, MOVE!
Standing still is far harder than moving. Movement is the answer. Step by step, and then, once you’ve decided to change, keep that focus on what you do want. Not on how you don’t have it yet, because that only leads to more frustration. Instead, every time you make progress, no matter how small, take a moment to celebrate that step forward. This helps you feel better now, in the process, which is just as important as the result. Celebrate!
