“Whenever you feel bad, stop! You must ask yourself an important question. Get real and honest. If you do nothing, you’ll feel bad and miss a possible, positive opportunity. Ask yourself! Discover what’s holding you back and what to do to feel better and transform it.
Ask yourself, ‘what are you thinking about?’ Look inside. You’re thinking about something that’s wrong, you don’t like and don’t want. Either something isn’t working and you don’t like it or something is coming up, you worry about, or something in the past.
You’re not thinking of things you’re grateful for, or how wonderful life is, or how great you feel. Get it? You’re thinking about the down side, the less than glorious, the negative and the bad. In order to feel better you need to shift from that negative to the positive.
The Mind Is As Strong As Its Weakest Think – Your Focus Expands
Here’s a silly example. ‘I don’t want pizza!’ ‘Okay, what do I want?’ ‘I want eggs and toast.’ ‘Okay, now I know what I want, where might I find it?’ ‘Okay, cool, what can I do now to get it?’ ‘What resources do I have?’ ‘What else can I do?’ Get it? Begin to get unstuck. Shift focus!
Incrementally, step by step, bit by bit, you can shift your thinking. That will lead you from feeling bad to feeling a little better. From a little better you can gradually move to feeling good and then eventually from good to great. That’s how you get out of it!
‘I don’t like X.’ Okay, take your attention off it. Put it elsewhere. Put it on Y. You want Y. Notice how you feel better when you think about Y. You may not know how to get it, yet, but you could learn, right? What questions might you ask to help you feel better? Ask and shift!
If You Think You Can Or You Think You Can’t You’re Right
The good news is you discover what’s making you feel off. You can change what you are thinking about to feel better. Plus, since you get clear on what you don’t want that’s holding you back you’re able to clarify what you do want. You know what to focus on and pursue.
What you don’t want is the flip side of what you do want. When you know what you don’t want, you actually know what you do. You think, ‘enough of this. I don’t want this anymore. I want that!’ Then shift from the negative to positive. Focus solely on what you want.
Shift focus away from what you don’t want. You don’t need to focus on that any longer. It’s been useful. It’s informed you what you do want. Be grateful. Your feelings were the signal to alert you to change your thinking. Your feelings are your inner guidance system.
Use Your Inner Guidance System To Get Free And Move Forward
Now focus on what you want, passionately, but loosely. Don’t get desperate. Stay loose. Be positive. Don’t get overly attached. You needed to know your destination. It’s an important part of getting there. If you don’t know where you want to end up, you might end up anywhere, or nowhere. You might never start moving. Get it? Now, instead, you know and can move forward. Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes
