“If you say to yourself you are going to do something, do it! Do it within 24 hours. Keep your word to yourself. If you say to someone else you will do something. Do It! Act within 24 hours. Keep your word. The worst thing you can do is make your word worthless.
Reputation precedes you. You are known by your word and whether you’re a person of integrity who does what you say. You are known by the company you keep. Those who are reliable and true won’t want to be around you if you are not. Don’t violate trust.
What is a promise? Saying I will do something. You don’t have to add, ‘I promise’. That’s already given. You promised the moment you said, ‘okay, I’ll do it.’ If you say ‘I’ll be there by ten.’ Be there. If you say, ‘I’ll get it to you in a couple days.’ Deliver on time. Be true. Be honest.
Make your word count. Don’t break promises. If you can’t deliver, let the other person know, apologize and make amends. Be impeccable. Add value. Act with integrity. Treat others with respect. When you break your promise you are disrespectful to them and to yourself. Stop it. Keep your word. Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes
