“Memorize something each day. Numbers or phone numbers. States, countries, cities. Memorize names, faces and places. Poems. Learn quotes or passages from books or plays. Act. Get in a play and memorize your lines. There’s community theater or church or school plays. Memorize songs. Keep working your memory. Look at something for a few moments and then draw it from memory. List what you notice. Look at a page. Close your eyes. Recall it.
Go to a new place. Look around. Close your eyes and remember. Recite what you recall into your phone or text. Then open your eyes and compare. Repeat. Get good at observing and noticing and remembers more. Build your recall skills. Use your ability to see, hear, touch, taste and smell to notice and recall and remember. Use these muscles. Read more and watch TV less. Learn songs and sing them. Take lessons. Take dancing lessons.
Meditate. There are different definitions of mediation. Some approaches use concentration as when you repeat a mantra. Some methods are about aligning with frequencies and vibrations by generating or listening to sounds. Some stimulate the imagination as when you stare at a mandala. Try many ways and enjoy each. some are active as in dancing or whirling. Some have you observe breathing or thoughts. Choose.
Build your ability to concentrate and your awareness to notice without judgement. That’s what these various practices encourage. Use the muscles you have in your brain/mind, body, heart, behaviors and spirit. Get this. You are a whole being. Do things for your whole being. It’s all part of the same thing.
