“Most of us want to remain positive but many have difficulty doing so. We slip up and find ourselves down the rabbit hole of stinking thinking and despair. One negative thought wouldn’t be so bad if it didn’t lead to another negative thought and then another. If we entertain the first one we might find ourselves down river fast losing control as our emotions become less-than-glorious too.
One negative thought. No big deal. What matters is what you do next. If you entertain it or give it much attention you’ll start sliding down a slippery slope. REMEMBER, energy flows where your attention goes. Negative thought patterns or clusters of limiting beliefs make our lives miserable. Worrying about the future or feeling bad about the past or the present leads to feeling worse.
Over-thinking and obsessive thinking about things long gone or things that haven’t happened yet rob us of the present and create a less-than-glorious future. We become what we think about. Fighting negativity only gives rise to more negativity as what we resist, persists. Analysis leads to paralysis. We actually create or attract or draw to use more of the same crap we want to avoid.

Once we think one negative thought or have one bad memory the tendency is to have clusters appear. One negative association leads to another negative association or bad memories or bad experiences. When this happens we usually end up feeling worse. We worry or fear and end up living and giving energy to this in our head obsessing over what could go wrong. Get this.
It’s called negative goal setting or negative rehearsal. We are rehearsing things getting worse. We are projecting things to get worse. Over-thinking is stressful and harmful to your health. Stress affects your ability to make decisions and your overall performance suffers. This can lead to more anxiety, anger and depression. You can spiral down if you entertain negativity. So stop it quickly.
Catch it when you first notice it. Stop engaging in it and redirect it. Trying to dam a rushing river takes more energy and effort than redirecting it. Awareness is the key to changing. Become aware when you notice yourself thinking negatively. Remember too, everyone does it. It is human. You aren’t bad. You are normal and it is normal to have less-than-glorious thoughts. Okay. Accept yourself and recognize or accept you may need to change your thinking patterns. You may need help in changing your thinking patterns. It’s kind of like first acknowledging you have a problem. It’s okay we all do. Accept it. Accept you have difficulty getting out of your head, overthinking, worrying or being afraid, being negative and it is affecting your life and relationships.
You have a problem if you spiral down into anger often or depression. You have a problem if you worry constantly or are overly fearful about the future. Acknowledge the problem. Don’t ignore it. Don’t deny it. Again, we all have been conditioned pretty much the same no matter how old we are or where we come from. We grew up in societies getting programmed to worry and fear. We grew up being told we had issues or weren’t worthy or good enough. ALL OF US are conditioned to think we’re less capable and wonderful than we are. It’s OK.

Instead of fighting it or denying it, learn to change it. Learn to ask for help if you need help and learn to let go of the limiting notions, ideas, thoughts, beliefs and feelings that hold you back.
