“Spiritual texts encourage us to embrace wealth and abundance and enjoy divine prosperity. Throughout spiritual texts and sacred traditions, there’s a recurring theme that Source, or god, desires for us to experience prosperity, wealth, and abundance. This is not limited to material riches, but extends to inner peace, fulfillment, and purpose. Whether from the Bible, Hermetic teachings, or other spiritual sources, there’s a profound truth.

Abundance is your birthright. If you align with the divine principles of the universe, you can live a life of internal and external wealth. Remember Job? The story of Job is frequently seen as a lesson in acquiring patience and faith while in the midst of suffering, but it’s also a profound example of god’s desire for his faithful to experience restoration and prosperity. Whether you believe the story as historical or allegory there’s a profound lesson in it.

Job, a devout and righteous man, was struck by a series of catastrophic losses. His wealth, family, and health all began to disappear as a test of his faith. Yet, through it all, Job maintains his trust in god. After immense suffering, Job’s faith is rewarded. In Job 42:10, it says, “The Lord restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.”  Think about this. Pause and reflect.

Not only was Job’s faith honored, but his material wealth, family, and health were all restored, double what he had before. This story highlights a key principle: god’s desire (source, infinite intelligence or physical law, all promote the same thing) is not just for survival, but for flourishing. In the midst of trials, you’re meant to rise into greater abundance, not just spiritually, but also materially. It’s more than survival. You’re meant to thrive.

In Hermeticism, an ancient spiritual philosophy based on writings attributed to Hermes Trismegistus, we’re taught the universe is mental and we are co-creators of our reality. One of the Hermetic principles, known as the Law of Correspondence, states, ‘As above, so below; as within, so without.’ This means that your outer world reflects your inner world. According to Hermetic teachings, the universe is infinite! Lack is an illusion.

If you cultivate an inner state of abundance, through thoughts, emotions, and beliefs, you attract external prosperity. Aligning your mind with divine wisdom allows you to tap into the endless flow of prosperity universe provides. Just as universe constantly expands and creates, you too are designed to grow, evolve, and expand abundance in all areas of life. The key is to align yourself with divine prosperity and flow with it. Allow it.

Back to the Bible. In Matthew 25:14-30, there’s the Parable of the Talents, which illustrates god’s expectation that we use our resources and talents wisely to create prosperity. In the story, a master entrusts three servants with different amounts of money (or talents). Two of the servants invest and multiply their master’s money, while the third buries it out of fear. When the master returns, he praises the two servants who multiplied their talents.

He says, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ But to the servant who did nothing with his talent, he said, ‘You wicked and slothful servant! Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has ten talents.’  Understand this. God expects you to use the gifts, skills, and opportunities you are given to create wealth and abundance. Use it or lose it!

The more you cultivate and grow what you’ve been entrusted with, the more you’re blessed with greater abundance. Prosperity, then, is not only a blessing but a responsibility to fulfill your divine potential. In both spiritual and practical teachings, there’s a universal principle that abundance flows through the Law of Giving and Receiving. (Again, I only quote from scripture because I know it.) Proverbs 11:25 states,

‘A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.’ The act of giving, whether through material wealth, time, or kindness, creates a reciprocal flow of blessings. During our current times this is important to do. This principle and practice is echoed in other traditions as well. The Hermetic Principle of Rhythm teaches that everything in life moves in cycles. What you give out must come back to you.

Whether you give love, energy, or resources, you set in motion a rhythm of receiving. Thus, generosity becomes a divine tool for prosperity, as the more you give, the more you create space to receive from the universe. The boomerang comes back to you. Inner wealth precedes outer wealth. From within to without. What you put out comes back to you. Thus, it is the boomerang that returns. You don’t get a teacup. Prosperity begins within.

Many teachings remind us of this. The Bible states in 3 John 1:2, ‘Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.’ Outer wealth and physical health reflect inner prosperity. Jesus taught the kingdom of god is within us (Luke 17:21). This means your internal state, your faith, thoughts, and emotions, dictates the level of abundance we experience in the outer world.

Align with divine wisdom. Live in gratitude. Embody faith or certainty. These are the keys to unlocking both spiritual and material prosperity.  The concept of Divine Providence is another powerful spiritual teaching about prosperity.  Trust in divine providence. In Matthew 6:26-33, Jesus says don’t worry about material needs. ‘Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly father feeds them.’ 

He makes the point that if god takes care of birds, how much more will He provide for you? This teaching is to encourage you to trust in the abundance of the universe and to understand that your needs will be met when you align with divine will. Prosperity is not something you need force or chase; it is something that flows to you naturally when you live in faith, purpose, and alignment with God’s principles.

What is your responsibility in divine prosperity? Align with the divine. Align with divine prosperity and give. Go first. Trust and give. The Bible and other spiritual texts are rich with teachings on wealth, abundance, and prosperity so whether it’s Job’s story of restoration, the Parable of the Talents, or the Hermetic Law of Correspondence, the message is clear: prosperity is not just a possibility; it is a divine expectation.
