“I want to talk to you about transforming habits. This IS the cornerstone of real, meaningful change. Habits run the show. They shape your actions, your results, and ultimately your life. But you have the power to rewrite them. The first step in transforming a habit is identifying what you want to change and setting a clear, strong intention to do so. But to do this you must want to and be willing to change. Many say they are but aren’t.

The same applies to you. A willingness to change is necessary. It’s important to be open to thinking, feeling, speaking and doing things differently. If you aren’t you’ll just keep repeating the same habits. You must be willing to stop perpetuating the old, become teachable and coachable and willing to change. If you’re not fully committed to change, if your intention isn’t clear and strong, then even the best methods won’t work or stick.

But when your desire to change is genuine, transformation becomes not just possible but inevitable. Knowing what you don’t want can be an important step in deciding what you do want. You can ask yourself, “What’s one habit holding me back?” Maybe it’s procrastination. Maybe it’s negative self-talk. Perhaps it’s reaching for the cookies every time stress hits. Whatever it is, be specific. Now examine its impact on you.

DEVELOP THE POSITIVE ATTITUDE, MINDSET AND BELIEFS TO TRANSFORM YOURSELF

Consider how it affects your life. As an example, once you realize a habit of procrastination is keeping you stuck in your job and causing you stress because you are constantly putting off tasks and missing opportunities THEN you can decide to set a strong intention. It clarifies what you want so you can commit. Declare ‘I am changing this habit because I deserve better.’ Your brain needs a clear signal that change is happening.

Setting an intention is like programming a GPS. If you don’t tell it where to go, it can’t guide you. Science backs this up. Studies on neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to rewire itself, show that intentional focus is key to forming new neural pathways. Dr. Andrew Huberman, a neuroscientist at Stanford, explains that deliberate attention combined with repetition strengthens these pathways. Think of it like blazing a trail in the woods.

The more you walk the path, the clearer and easier it becomes. One of my clients, Mark, a small business owner, had a habit of avoiding difficult conversations. He realized it was costing him both time and money. His team wasn’t clear on their roles, deadlines were missed, and frustration was building. I helped Mark identify his avoidance habit and set the intention to change. He began small: tackling one tough conversation a week.

DEVELOP THE POSITIVE ATTITUDE, MINDSET AND BELIEFS TO TRANSFORM YOURSELF

Each time, he reminded himself of his goal, to build a strong, successful team. Over time, he rewired his brain to associate these conversations with growth and progress rather than fear. The result? A more productive, harmonious workplace and a confident, assertive Mark. Notice, you use what you don’t want to identify what you do, and you decide, intend to do something positive about it. You don’t wallow over the problem.

You leave negativity behind and get proactive about positively changing what you are doing. So here’s what I want you to do: Decide today. What habit do you want to change? Be specific. Write it down. Set your intention. Commit fully. Say it out loud: ‘I am transforming this habit because I deserve to thrive.’ Take the First Step. Start small. If you’re working on procrastination, tackle one task you’ve been putting off for weeks.

When you combine intention with action, you create momentum. And when you repeat that momentum daily, you build new habits that serve you better. So, again. It begins with changing what you’re thinking about. Different thoughts lead to different feelings, actions and results. Transformation isn’t about perfection. It’s about progress. Even a 1% improvement each day compounds into massive change over time.

DEVELOP THE POSITIVE ATTITUDE, MINDSET AND BELIEFS TO TRANSFORM YOURSELF

Your brain is designed to adapt and grow. The key is giving it a clear, positive direction and staying consistent. So, identify the habit. Set the intention. Blaze the trail.
