“Habits are reliable. They’re dependable. We do them without thinking. Habits are part of us. We never forget to do a habit. Our unconscious mechanisms are consistent. Because of this, habits are difficult to break. This is both a blessing and a challenge.

People, think of ‘bad’ habits such as smoking, eating or drinking to excess, too much TV or computer games as negative and unhealthy versus ‘good’ habits like eating right, exercising and being optimistic. ALERT: Your brain doesn’t care if something is positive or negative.

Your brain doesn’t care if it is good or bad, right or wrong, healthy or not. Your brain doesn’t judge. It just reliably carries them out. It’ll engage in destructive or positive behavior. That’s what it’s designed to do. How you behave depends on the habit you formed. Get it?

Skill Comes Of Doing – Repetition Is The Mother Of Skill

It’s similar to planting a seed. You harvest what you nurture or cultivate. The soil doesn’t care whether you plant nutritious food or poison. You’ ll reap whatever you planted and helped grow. Just as you nurture the seeds, repetition nurtures the habit. Get it?

Habits form over time by what we repeatedly do, consistently. The brain delivers the habit you planted and nurtured, or repeated, over and over again. That’s why, ‘we become what we think about’ is so true. We habitually think certain thoughts. We are our habits!

What fills our mind, and occupies our attention, over and over is what we get. Our thoughts become things, feelings and behaviors. We become whatever we habitually think about. We feel whatever we routinely feel. We behave whatever we habitually do. Got it?

What We Want To Do With Ease We Must First Do With Diligence

Want to change habits? You do it the same way you created them. It’s a bit different now. Many of the habits you have, you weren’t aware of creating. Now, you will be. So that’s different. You do it by rehearsing the new habit you want. You keep repeating it!

You rehearse it again and again. Just as actors rehearses their lines and movements, to wire them in, you rehearse the new habit you want to develop. Just as a ballplayer rehearses playing the game. Rehearse the positive thought, feeling and behavior habits.

Rehearse repeatedly, correctly, consistently, for long enough and you WILL condition yourself to acquire the new, reliable, automatic, supportive, and positive habits. That IS how it works. You condition yourself successfully for success. Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes
