“It’s beautiful to begin the day with laughing. Intentional laughter. Use laughter as a meditative practice. Laugh for an hour, but anyone can begin with 5 or more minutes. I’ve promoted laughter as a transformative force and practice since 1979/80.  It’s wonderful!

I applaud you my reader and anyone who discovers the power and practice of laughter. I begin workshops and training with laughter, lightness, dancing or cross-crawling and end evenings with laughing trance. It works! I encourage you to do it to discover the benefits.

I lived in commune where it was a regular morning practice for those who wished to begin at 5 am. I’d read about it as an approach to meditation much earlier through Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. It’s an awesome practice and a great way to begin and live through the day.

You begin by deliberately laughing for no reason. ‘Hahahahah’ or ‘hohohohoh’ and just keep laughing. It will seem artificial at first but just do it. Keep doing it! Do it for 5, 10 or 20 minutes. The change of breathing through laughing is impressively beneficial. Truly! Try it.

At some point, the laughter response takes over and the laughter becomes real laughter. If not, no worries. Just keep at it. I made it a staple of all my workshops and training. While many were learning therapy for the mind I embraced a full mind/body/spirit approach.

Don’t let your thoughts prevent you from doing worthwhile things. Practice it. Make it a daily morning meditation practice and you’ll surprise yourself how easily you begin to change and how you begin to feel so much better all around! This works for many reasons.

Norman Cousins added research and insight into the healing power of laughing. Herbert Benson offered the same with the relaxation response. When you breath while laughing you use your diaphragm and fully breath healing and relaxation results. Check into this!

I believe in a whole being approach for swifter, more complete positive change. When it comes to releasing and letting go laughter and gratitude accelerates everything. You’ll discover you are grateful and can laugh at anything for no reason. It’s so valuable.

I encourage you to try this! Keep at it. Don’t do what most people do and try it a few times. Devote yourself to the long term and stay with it. You will benefit so much in the long term!
