“If you are seeing what you want to avoid, if you are looking at problems you are steering right into them. If you are looking at what you want to get away from you are missing out on moving forward. You can’t get ahead looking behind you. You don’t escape the bear chasing you by turning and looking at the bear. You must look where you want to go to move to get there.
At times, people accidentally crash their car into another car, a pole, tree or wall because they inadvertently aim at what they don’t want to hit, and must avoid, instead of aiming toward safety. They freeze. They lock their attention onto ‘oh no’ what they don’t want to hit AND then they hit it. Why? Because energy goes where your attention goes. You walk in the direction you are looking in.
During race car training they teach drivers to ‘look or aim away from the wall’. They have you practice going around the track and then drive towards the wall. To not hit the wall, you have to force yourself to turn your head away from the wall and look to the center of the track. That is an area of safety. You turn your eyes away, and your head follows, from the wall. This makes you steer away too.
It really does. It causes you to steer toward safety. Yes, it seems counterintuitive. It requires training. Training requires correct practice repeatedly for long enough to get people to look away from the wall. It doesn’t develop as a skill overnight. It requires rigorous effort. You must make it a reliable habit. It must become the first response, to survive. Look away from the wall!
Why does this work? Because you move in the direction that you look or aim in.You aim towards safety by looking away from the wall! Most people look at the very thing they don’t want to run into. This is true of most everything. We don’t find peace, focused on war and violence. We don’t find love, looking for hate. We don’t run our brains for success, focused on fear and failure.
We don’t find happiness, complaining about what is wrong. We don’t find wealth, worried about bills.We don’t solve problems. by focusing on and reliving the problems. We must turn our attention toward what we want in order to get what we want AND NOT get what we don’t want! Understand this! YOU must turn your attention toward what you want and maintain your attention there.
In order to get what you want you aim at it and maintain your attention.You withdraw you attention from all else. You become what you think about most during the day.You must stay focused on what’s important to you and not get distracted by events and less-than- glorious results or circumstances or others. Keep your focus where it needs to be. Aim towards what you want and keep your focus there.
Don’t compare. Let go of fear and doubt. Stop checking your progress and develop the certainty you are moving ahead. Yes, be available for feedback.You aren’t to travel blindly but keep your focus on what you want to create for yourself. Aim away from the wall and aim towards what you want. AIM AT WHAT YOU WANT.
