“Dan Rather recently quoted Thomas Paine. I like the quote. I’d like to remove it from the political context it was originally written for, and the present use of Mr. Rather. This quote reminds us that troubles and  conflict may be difficult but we can triumph.

I particularly enjoy the line ‘the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph’. These are true words. When things are tough, yet, we prevail, it is considered much more valuable. A worthy opponent, is what the warrior seeks. Perhaps, we should too.

We can stand tall, and remain true, and stay committed unlike the ‘summer soldier and the sunshine patriot’ or ‘the fair weather friend’ and not shrink from our service. We stay true to our intention, our definite chief purpose and mission in life. We remain committed.

Patience Persistence Perspiration An Unbeatable Combination

Yes, I like this. Stay dedicated to your goals. Find and create away. Adjust and continue. Keep on point. Don’t give up. Fight the good fight. This is why attitude and mindset, and the ability to manage your thoughts and emotions, is such a valuable skill to develop.

Thomas Paine famously wrote in 1776: ‘These are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.’

I hope you enjoy the quote as well. Remember, when things are tough, stay true. Remain of one purpose. You can see it through to the other side of hardship.
