“Worry comes from what we think about and where we place our attention. Whenever we begin to pursue new goals or dreams, we leave our mental and emotional comfort zone. To keep us consistent, that person the brain was conditioned to support while growing up, it offers us thoughts, images and feelings of doubt, fear and worry to keep us the same. THIS is a gift not a curse. I’ll explain.
Your brain works to keep you alive and thriving and to keep you safe from harm real or perceived. The brain doesn’t know the difference between an imagined or perceived threat or a real one. It doesn’t know the difference between a real positive imagined experience and one you live out in your physical world. It does what it does to support us. We change. It stays the same to keep us safe.
Unless we update it which many neglect to do. We reprogram our subconscious with new patterns and programs that support the changes we want to make. When we do this both our conscious and subconscious work in alignment. When this is the case, we expend less energy and begin to take right actions to the new goals and dreams we’d like to include in our lives. It works like magic, but it isn’t.

It is scientific reprogramming. The principles and practices date back to ancient times. Modern science validates them with concepts of neuroplasticity, the immense power of the placebo effect and attitude, and rewiring the brain through a conditioning process. Neurons that fire together wire together. I’ve been sharing this in my programs since the early 80’s. Today, many others have caught on too.
One of the tricks to reprogramming is to become aware of where you place your attention. Most people walk around in a hypnotic zombie like trance never realizing the power of their thoughts on their experience. They don’t notice when they are negative or positive unless the signal value is loud or obvious enough. Many things are subtle and that requires using our attention in different ways.
Whenever you notice you aren’t getting what you like to be getting, you are feeling frustrated, hopeless, angry or any emotions we judge as less-than-glorious or ‘negative’ that is a golden gifted moment. You noticed what you don’t want. NOW here’s the trick and the knack to making it work positively for you. If you keep doing what you were doing, it’s the same as pouring gasoline on it.

Stop pouring gas on it and remove the combustibles. This is a pattern interrupt. What that means is you stop doing the behavior, thinking the thoughts that are troublesome and take a break. You stand up, jump up and down, laugh, smile, giggle, take a deep breath or take a short brisk walk. In other words, you stop thinking negatively, take a break and MOVE! Move and move. Get release and relief.
After a few moments you shift your thinking to what you want to think about instead. If you thought, ‘I hate myself.’ NOW you think, ‘I love myself.’ You stop doing the old behavior and do a new one. DO the new one with energy and vigor. Shout it, chant it, jump up and down. Exaggerate it. Keep repeating it. ‘I love myself.’ ‘I now accept myself. I am love. I feel loved. I take care of myself. I love myself.’
You begin reprogramming your subconscious by putting your attention on WHAT you WANT instead of what the problem was. Most people perpetuate the problems and never make the positive changes they could. You can be different. In fact, when you discover yourself negative, as I state in the Attitude Activator™, ‘STOP…. AND BE DIFFERENT!’ What you do is First notice. Stop and pause.

Shift and reprogram. The practice is to put your attention where it is useful and not on others or in self critique. It is a knack, and you get better at it with repeated trial and effort. ANYONE can reduce stress and anxiety and feel positive and powerful by learning how to place their attention where it needs to be. Just as you learned to think and feel anything, negative or positive, it’s a skill you develop.
Nothing mysterious about it! Awareness is the first step. When you catch yourself feeling down and out, notice it. Stop the negative self-criticism, negative self-talk, stop the anger, frustration, fear, doubt, worry, gloom and doom and take a pause. Take a break. Again, this is great when you notice. Be pleased that you did notice because so many don’t. You are making a difference by attending to this.
It’s like turning a flashlight on in a dark area. You see the pitfalls, obstacles and dangers. This is good. You can handle those but if you weren’t aware of them, you’d go through them anyway. NOW, at least you know what’s there and can make it a point to move around differently and safely. The alert on your dashboard may bother you when it goes off but it’s there to avoid further problems. Get this!

1st begin to notice. Meditation can benefit because it helps one relax, calm thoughts and feel centered. Energy goes where you place your attention. Positive thoughts can help because one learns to steer away from the less-than-glorious thinking to the useful and productive. It is simple to do and may require effort, but it can be mastered by anyone. You’ve already mastered so much. Good and not.
You can master this in the same way you master anything. Again, you’ve mastered many things. Good things and great things, simple and easy things. Positive things. You’ve also mastered worries, fears, woes and troubles. You’ve done both while growing up. You learned to have problems. Now it’s time to learn how to easily resolve them and celebrate them for what they are.
It’s time to stop thinking about them as what they are not! Now it’s time to celebrate all of it because all of it is a gift of consciousness and of being alive. You are alive. ACT LIKE IT!
