STOP THE BULLYING AND ABUSE!!

“Given recent events I find it sad there are some who think strength is insults and bullying. Bullies are cowards using strong arm tactics and manipulation in AN attempt to gain an advantage and maintain an upper hand. Zero sum tactics are for losers, as is intimidation, threats, strong arming, ganging up or sandbagging someone and by removing or restricting access to needed resources. No one is strong who must shout and bully.

The current criminal administration uses fear mongering, rumors, lies, threats, bullying, slash and burn tactics to pillage and confuse, create chaos and overwhelm citizens. The press is treated with disdain. Guests in the Oval office are ganged up on and attacked. It’s not only to intimidate those who it’s aimed at but it IS for show to the gallery of sycophants who love the idea of a ‘strong man’, and FOR show to possible secret alliances.

WHO does the behavior serve? How does it benefit US citizens and citizens of the globe? Does it help any one of them live better, put food on the table, clothe themselves and family, or keep a roof above their heads? Does it make things better or worse? Is the behavior you witness frequently the kind you want your daughters or children subjected to by men, their peers or adults? What kind of examples are set by insults, threats and yelling?

People in government, from the top to the bottom are servants. That’s true of all three branches. The Judiciary serves to keep people safe, whether they do actually or not. That IS what they’re supposed to do. Protect the constitution and the people from harm, threats and removal of rights and privileges. The same applies to the White House, the House and Senate. They ARE servants. They are supposed to serve and NOT be served.

Government ISN’T a business. It’s not about eliminating or crushing the competition for profit. It IS to protect the people from harm domestic and otherwise. These ELECTED representatives are here TO protect, serve and make things better for the citizens and for those who cannot do better for themselves. This indicted criminal potus with 34 counts against him thinks he is supposed to act as he does and he bullies to get his way.

None of his, or their, actions serve anyone, but himself and cronies. If you want to overthrow the USA, this is how it is done. It is corrupted from within. When the root dies so does the plant. Evil is as evil does. You CAN see it. You WILL know them by their fruits or actions. Blessed is who? Some people demand you live by the 10 commandments but not the greatest commandment to love god, self and others and the Beatitudes.

They’re wrong! Compassion, love, unification, edification, listening, understanding, peace, caring ARE where strength IS. Cooperation and collaboration gets more things done than competition. Working together works better to solve problems than accusing, blaming, whining, attacking and harming others. If you want a better world, be a better person. One injury promotes another. Push and you get push back.

ANY good negotiator knows this. Yelling loudly isn’t the best way to be heard. Listening FIRST promotes reciprocation. Having the other person’s needs and wants and interests IN your heart gets you further than pushing your own way on everyone else. No one except a bully likes a bully AND a bully bullies because that bully IS a coward AND knows no other way to get their way than to scream, stomp their feet and stomp on others.

The only reason you bully, is if you know nothing else you can do. It demonstrates lack of intelligence, resources, possibilities, creativity, problem solving ability, leadership AND any other action of merit. When you know nothing you can do, you pound on the table. That IS weakness, NOT strength. The louder your voice gets, the more agitated you are, the less in control you are. The angry person IS out of control because s/he HAS none.

To bring about change is as Gandhi suggested, you and I and others ought to BE the positive change you want to see in the world. Promote the good you want your children to emulate. We realize kids brought up in fighting homes often find partners like their parents and often are abusers themselves. Not always, but it does occur. Who would you want to watch your child for you? What kind of role model? Consider this, it IS important. WHO?

There aren’t many positive role models in the current administration and those occupying the lion share of the offices. They say one thing, but do another. They say one thing one day, and another the next day. They demonstrate they ARE inconsistent, fearful, bullies, liars and frauds who would do anything FOR profit, prestige and power but will not protect and serve the people, nor honor their oath. I would not trust my kids with them.

So why should we trust OUR country with them? Manage your mindset. Stay positive and optimistic even in the face of the chaos, fear, confusion and overwhelm they use to get you to give up. They succeed by getting people to tune out or to become as they are. Rise above. Live better and do better and you will do better and live better. We need to be for each other, united, not against each other. Hard times are an opportunity to become your best.

It’s either that or give up and become the least. Let’s come together to promote peace in your home, neighborhood, state, country and the world. Bullies fear exposure. They ARE frail and fall fast when exposed. Usually, THEY are their own undoing. After they wreck everything, they fall apart too. Let’s build better. Remain vigilant and resourceful. Don’t succumb to their tactics but find that place inside where their tactics don’t work on you. BE the bigger person. Evil is as evil does. The same is true of stupidity. What So Many People Miss These Days

“What so many miss today is first lead yourself. So many people want to lead without being qualified and many endorse that practice by encouraging them to lead or teach without mastering themselves or the subject first. That’s just shameful. If you aren’t qualified, you should try to get your experience on the job. Look what happened to the USA recently when you’ve unqualified people occupying positions of power.

And you have sycophants and psychopaths who indulge their whims. IF you can’t lead by example with care, understanding and compassion (all woke components) then you aren’t fit to hold the position. Integrity, honesty, authenticity and transparency matter. IF you can’t master and lead yourself no other abilities amount to much. They flow from the first. If the first is corrupted all the rest will be too. The first domino matters!

It’s like trying to fix circumstances. That’s putting the cart before the horse. ‘Physician heal thyself.’ The Hippocratic Oath first states ‘do no harm; and second ‘seek to help.’ If you aren’t a true leader, no one needs you. Sadly, there are lots who assume positions of power in politics, religion, education and all walks of life who aren’t worthy to hold the position. Their interest is in power over others, not leading people to greater understanding and freedom. I encourage people to be the change they want to see in the world as Gandhi did.

Don’t succumb to inferior standards and platitudes of hate and division. Learn to cooperate and collaborate. Stop competing and discover ways to edify others and yourself. Stop evil. Resist temptation but remember to release it and let it go because what you push on, pushes back. What you resist, persists. Learn to let go and refocus on the positive and the good. Help others. We’re all in this world together.

If you tune out or do nothing, nothing changes. Become a positive role model for positive change. Help inspire and encourage people to love more, give more, help more and stand for positive loving values. We don’t end hate by hating back. We don’t end war by hitting bigger. We come together in promoting understanding, peace and friendship. We act honestly, authentically, transparently for the good of all, not just the few. How To Open Your Mind to New Possibilities

“You’ve heard it countless times: Keep an open mind! It sounds simple, right? But ask yourself, are you genuinely open to new ideas, or do you find yourself jumping to conclusions, locking into one ‘right answer,’ and dismissing anything that challenges your existing beliefs? If so, it might be time for a mental reset! Learn to Stop having a closed mind. Open your mind to new possibilities because the rewards are endless when you do.

A closed mind is like living in a locked room with the blinds drawn. It’s easy to shut out anything unfamiliar or uncomfortable and cling to the familiar. The signs of a closed mind are straightforward. People, or perhaps you, make snap judgments or rush to conclusions before fully understanding a concept. They don’t listen to listen. They listen to object and correct. They miss out on having higher quality relationships and communicating well.

They live from fixed options believing there is only one correct solution or perspective to any situation, often your own. They take a defensive stance by feeling that others are “wrong” if they disagree with you and refusing to consider their point of view. It’s why they don’t listen. They dismiss or reject new or different ideas without serious thought simply because they don’t fit their worldview. If you do, notice when you do.

This is a natural human tendency, but one that we can and should work to overcome. As I often say, ‘Contempt for a new idea before examination is a sign of a closed mind.’ My more popular quote is ‘Exploration is the doorway to adventure. Curiosity is the key.’ A favorite of mine is attributed to Oliver Wendall Holmes ‘A mind stretched to a new idea, can never go back to its original dimension.’ We benefit greatly by staying open.

Living with a closed mind keeps you boxed into the same experiences, perspectives, and limitations, robbing you of the opportunity for growth. When you shut down any idea or point of view that doesn’t align with yours, you miss out on discovering innovative solutions, connecting with others on a deeper level, and, most importantly, learning and expanding. It’s like putting a cap on your own potential. A closed mind costs you plenty.

Ready to make a change? Let’s look at ways to open to new ideas and experiences. Be willing to embrace exploration. Remember, ‘Exploration is the doorway to adventure.’ Start exploring ideas you’re not initially drawn to. That doesn’t mean you have to adopt every new concept you encounter but let yourself investigate it without judgment. Read up on it, research it, or even just think about it with an open mind.

DEVELOP THE POSITIVE ATTITUDE, MINDSET AND BELIEFS TO TRANSFORM YOURSELF

Like a traveler setting out to explore new lands, decide to approach each idea with curiosity rather than resistance. While it can be beneficial to be surrounded by likeminded people, you don’t want all likeminded people. If they all think like you, you are limited. If you think the way they do, that might be good but that depends. What you do want is people who challenge you so you notice blind spots and things you wouldn’t.

If you always do what you always did, nothing changes. Things remain the same and if you don’t like them, that’s being stuck. To move forward you must move. Having people with different points of view, different beliefs and experiences to have in your life ONLY makes your life richer. Especially, if you can listen with an open mind and not prevent them from expressing their perspectives. LISTEN TO LEARN not to discuss or refute. Get it?

Pause before you judge. When that knee-jerk reaction to dismiss something as ‘wrong’ or ‘stupid’ pops up, catch yourself. Pause. Take a breath and let that initial reaction subside. Let it go and be different. Tell yourself, ‘I’m going to see this through before forming an opinion.’ This single pause can make all the difference. It’s a choice. Dog crap or diamonds and diverse experiences and ideas are diamonds. If you want your life to change…

DEVELOP THE POSITIVE ATTITUDE, MINDSET AND BELIEFS TO TRANSFORM YOURSELF

You must change things in your life. Stay curious. It’s the key to adventure. Ask yourself questions about your own judgments. ‘Where did I get this opinion? Why do I believe it so strongly? Look around and consider others’ views. Who else thinks this way, and why? When you develop the habit of asking questions, you open up pathways to understanding that weren’t there before. You can ask the other person too, just to learn from them.

Curiosity is the antidote to closed-mindedness. Close-mindedness has another name. Dickheadedness. Instead of challenging others to win your point, ask questions to learn why they hold their beliefs, values, opinions and judgements. What led them to those conclusions. By knowing how they chose to think you understand them better and can communicate in more positive ways. You can even predict how they” think and act in the future.

When we challenge our own beliefs, we free ourselves to see from new angles. Start questioning your assumptions regularly. Recognize when you’re holding onto an idea out of habit. It may be great to continue to do so. It may be that it’s useful sometimes but not others. Open up. Develop flexibility in your thinking and you’ll become far more creative and a better problem solver. Try seeing the world from the opposite perspective.

You may not ultimately change your view, but you will stretch your mind to new possibilities. Good attorneys and debaters can speak on the other side. They can argue for the opposite position in addition to their own. When you can embrace multiple perspectives you have more choices, possibilities and opportunities. You can see what you otherwise couldn’t. You reduce your blind spots and open your ability to see new things.

Becoming aware of when you’re shutting down or closing off is the first step toward real change. Notice when you feel frustration or anger arising. Notice when you are feeling constricted, or you just must really make this person understand their folly or your brilliance. NOTICE and stop. THEN celebrate those moments of self-awareness! When you recognize a closed-minded response, see it as an opportunity to grow rather than a flaw.

Celebrate noticing to encourage future noticing. Stop criticizing yourself and others if you make a mistake and become grateful you noticed. Making mistakes is fine, it helps you move forward to learn to recognize, correct, adjust and continue. Making the same mistake is what people call stupid or futile. It means you’re not paying attention or caring enough. So, whenever you realize you goofed, be thankful you don’t have to goof again.

Get it? I encourage people instead of living a lack-luster, half assed life, of low energy, lack of investment and no worthy returns to stop being dickheaded or stubborn and to step into their full potential. People miss out because they don’t make changes. Instead, they defend their position and give reasons why they can’t. They look for loopholes to not do things in their own best interests instead of all they reasons why they should.

If you know you should and you don’t, what does that tell you? If you could do it but don’t know what is going on? How about putting an end to those cycles and moving forward in productive and meaningful ways that delight and excite you about your life and relationships? Notice when you could be moving forward but aren’t. Celebrate that awareness and then choose to move forward. Knowing but not doing, is not really knowing.

Act in your own best interests.

How to Stop Waiting to Speak and Start Listening to Learn

“Listening is an art, one of the most powerful tools you can develop for genuine understanding and growth. The act of listening, without immediately needing to reply, argue, or share your perspective, is transformational. When you learn to truly listen, you open up a space to appreciate, absorb, and explore ideas that may have otherwise slipped by unnoticed. This part of your journey is all about creating that space for yourself and others.

It’s about allowing a greater flow of understanding and genuine connection to emerge. Most of us fall into the habit of “listening to reply,” where our main focus is waiting for our turn to speak. True listening is listening without an agenda. It’s about giving the speaker the spotlight and absorbing their words with respect and curiosity. Listen first and foremost to understand, not to speak. Know first where they are coming from.

Ask yourself as you listen, “What can I learn here?” or “What are they really trying to convey? “This practice keeps you open and engaged, without feeling the need to challenge, judge, or counter. Instead of simply nodding along while crafting your response, aim to listen purely to understand. Seek to know more by asking open-ended questions, not to argue or counterpoint, but to dig deeper. The Power of Accepting Others as They Are

“We all know someone who’s firmly stuck in their views, resistant to anything outside of their comfort zone. Don’t be like that person! When you open your heart to others, you encourage a similar openness in yourself. By accepting people as they are, without trying to change them, you foster a sense of freedom within yourself as well. If you’ve been hoping for someone to “come around” to your way of thinking, ask yourself this:

What’s the worst that could happen if they don’t? Can you love and accept them anyway? Practice acceptance with the people around you. You’ll find it easier to accept yourself, flaws and all. Acceptance is transformative. When you open your heart and mind to others as they are, something remarkable happens; you invite openness into your own life. It’s not just about tolerating differences; it’s about embracing and celebrating them.

People are unique for a reason, each carries their own perspectives, experiences, and beliefs. Instead of approaching others with the aim to change them, imagine the freedom that comes with releasing that burden entirely. By accepting people for who they truly are, you foster a sense of freedom within yourself as well, and this openness to others deepens your own growth. I will say this again and again in slightly different ways.

Each has a unique perspective you can consider and appreciate. Just as we hope for others to accept us, we extend that same kindness when we meet others without judgment. Accepting others IS a path to self-acceptance. The beauty of acceptance lies in how it shapes us internally. By practicing acceptance toward others, you’ll discover it’s easier to accept yourself, flaws and all.

Rather than expending energy on trying to change or control people, imagine channeling that energy into understanding and growth.

What Constitutes A Promise AND Why It Matters

“What constitutes a promise? Is it only a promise when you say, ‘I promise’? NO! A promise is implied whenever you say you will do anything or offer to do anything. The promise is always inferred. It is understood that you intend to deliver. If you won’t deliver, don’t say you will. If you said, ‘Today, I’ll buy lunch’ but when the bill comes you say ‘Forget it’ what do you think people would think of you?

Why would you offer if you weren’t going to? If you say, ‘I’ll meet you at noon Friday’, but don’t show up, do you think they’d think you were cool? If you told a child, ‘I will come by after school’ and then didn’t, how might the child feel? Do you really want to do that to a kid? DO you want to let anyone down? Do you want to get the reputation that your word isn’t any good? It’s important to do what you say you will.

Regardless of whether you have your fingers crossed behind your back, or that you shook hands or didn’t, your word is your bond. People need to and want to trust that you do what you say you will. If you don’t come through you violate their trust. It’s about integrity, reputation and relationships. It’s about the golden rule. If you make a request of someone, inferred in that request is that you promise to be satisfied.

DEVELOP THE POSITIVE ATTITUDE, MINDSET AND BELIEFS TO TRANSFORM YOURSELF

If they do what you ask, you imply that promise. Thank you is the correct response however they follow up on your request. Why? Because it is up to you to specify and make clear your request as I described in a previous blog. A promise is a promise. Keep yours and make it all good. What do you think you create or attract each time you break your word? Do you make others or yourself feel better or worse?

What is the vibe you are putting out? What are you doing to yourself and your relationships? Your word is your bond. Help others and help others help you by being a person of your word. Be true to your word, to others and yourself. Be a person of integrity. Reputation matters.You may not think so because some nasty people get pretty far BUT it does. What goes around comes around. Make it good for you and others!

Live with integrity, keep your word and you will experience the wonderful difference it makes. DON’T believe me. Live it. Find out what changes for the better when you make it a point to do what you say and imply you will. Also, consider this. There’s Nothing Worse Than Someone Who Fails To Keep Their Word

“Is there anything worse than someone who does not keep their word? When they break their promise, they demonstrate their promise to you is meaningless. It shows you that they don’t care, have no willpower or backbone in carrying out what they say they will. It indicates that they are weak, or they just don’t care enough for you to keep it. Their promise is empty just as the results they get are empty. They do not care.

They are not loyal. Their word or promise is of no value. It sucks! Right? Granted there may be times when it is impossible to keep a promise but then the person who cares does what they can do to set it right. An apology is meaningless without a correction. They apologize. Make it right. AND promise not to let that happen again. Yes, there are times when we should be sensitive and accepting of others not keeping their word. Sometimes.

Learn the difference between a person whose word is their bond, who attempts to do the right thing and make good on it, and one who doesn’t. When someone breaks their promise s/he lets the other person down. As a result of that disappointment and the bad feelings negative associations can pile up. The person gets a reputation of being a ‘let down’, ‘a disappointment’ and of being an untrustworthy person. You don’t want that.

DEVELOP THE POSITIVE ATTITUDE, MINDSET AND BELIEFS TO TRANSFORM YOURSELF

Do you? Always keep your word. Your word is your bond! It should be unbreakable! You should never give your word unless you keep your word. You should place a high value on doing what you say you will. If you won’t do what you say don’t make a commitment in the first place. NEVER give your word unless you absolutely intend to keep it. Don’t disappoint making a promise you won’t keep. Trust is sacred. Do everything to earn and keep it.

If you make excuses and blame circumstances you demonstrate you’re not in charge of your life. If you made a promise, broke it and then whine or complain that it isn’t your fault, that something came up, no one cares about your reasons for failure they only know YOU did not deliver. When you promise something, you are claiming you will follow through. You are stating YOU will deliver. SO, DELIVER! Be a person whose word is gold.

Create trust by being a person of integrity. Especially today. Follow through. Keep your word. We’ll discuss more next time but make it a point to be a person others can depend on, especially when you lead them to believe you can be that person. Trust is sacred. Be trustworthy. Do to others how you want others to do to you. Consider the other, not just yourself. Go the extra mile because the return on investment is worth it, what goes around comes around. If you put out garbage, garbage comes back to you. Remember how you vibe. Take care to protect others and yourself by being true to your word. Your word is who you are. Anthony Writes To Bryan: You Must Read It

“Greatness can appreciate greatness. We ought to celebrate each other’s successes and put envy aside. ‘Dear Mister Cranston,

I wanted to write you this email – so I am contacting you through Jeremy Barber – I take it we are both represented by UTA . Great agency.

I’ve just finished a marathon of watching “BREAKING BAD” – from episode one of the First Season — to the last eight episodes of the Sixth Season. [Ed note: There are in fact five seasons of Breaking Bad; this might have been wishful thinking.] A total of two weeks (addictive) viewing.

I have never watched anything like it. Brilliant!

Your performance as Walter White was the best acting I have seen – ever.
I know there is so much smoke blowing and sickening bullshit in this business, and I’ve sort of lost belief in anything really.

But this work of yours is spectacular — absolutely stunning. What is extraordinary, is the sheer power of everyone in the entire production. What was it? Five or six years in the making? How the producers (yourself being one of them), the writers, directors, cinematographers…. every department — casting etc. managed to keep the discipline and control from beginning to the end is (that overused word) awesome.

From what started as a black comedy, descended into a labyrinth of blood, destruction and hell. It was like a great Jacobean, Shakespearian or Greek Tragedy.

If you ever get a chance to – would you pass on my admiration to everyone — Anna Gunn, Dean Norris, Aaron Paul, Betsy Brandt, R.J. Mitte, Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Steven Michael Quezada — everyone — everyone gave master classes of performance… The list is endless.

Thank you. That kind of work/artistry is rare, and when, once in a while, it occurs, as in this epic work, it restores confidence.

The Secret To Increasing Your Value

“You’re most valuable when you seek to add value to others. That some don’t see it only means they don’t get what you have to offer or it’s not for them. That means nothing about you. Surround yourself with people who ‘get’ you and those who don’t. Don’t be surrounded only by like minds and yes sayers. Feedback to improve comes from those BUT far more frequently and more valuable it comes from the naysayers. They see you differently than friends do.

Your worth has nothing to do whether someone likes, gets you or accepts you. Your worth is intrinsic. If you don’t enhance it and share it, likely it won’t be recognized. If you contribute to others, some will. It’s important to realize you ARE worthy and CAN contribute. Love and accept yourself as you are AND enhance your talents and abilities but you’re already worthy and valuable. Be good and get better. You’re valuable. Others are valuable too. So, contribute.

Give and be willing to learn from everyone and everywhere. People tend to learn the most from hardship. The lessons needed seem to repeat again and again through tough times. We don’t learn as much when comfortable. because we’re not forced to look at or do things differently. It’s comfortable. There’s nothing to change. When things aren’t comfortable, we adjust them so they are. That’s why hardship heals and helps us grow. It spurs exploration.

We don’t like difficulty and difficult people but they’re valuable. When you can embrace troubles, hardship, rejection, loneliness, unhappiness or sadness through observation and acceptance they begin to change and dissolve. When we resist what’s going on, we pour energy into it. When we allow it and release it, it lets go and so do we.
