“People try to do too much, too soon, and then give up too fast. They abandon resolutions in the new year. That’s the trap. That’s the old hypnosis, short-term thinking. We overestimate what we think we can do in a week, and underestimate what we can do in a year, five, or ten. And it costs us. We set out inspired, driven by possibility. We see the wealthy, the successful, the fit, the glamorous, and we want that too. So, we eagerly charge ahead.

We read a book, start a business, hit the gym, clean up our diet, and maybe we lose a few pounds or make a few extra dollars. But we look up and it’s not the massive result we pictured in our head. The dream feels far from us. And doubt creeps in. So, what do we do? Most people stop. They look at the results and tell themselves it’s not working. But that’s not true. It IS working. You just haven’t done it long enough. There’s a learning curve.

Real transformation requires staying power. Vision. Discipline. Patience. You don’t plant a seed and dig it up every few days to check if it’s growing. You water it, nurture it, protect it. You trust the process. And then it grows. And then it blooms. It takes conditioning. There are no hacks, no magic pills, no shortcuts that last. The long game is where the magic lives. Marketers would have you believe in magic pills, short-cuts and magic fairy tales.

You want to look like an Olympian? It’s not 30 days, it’s ten years. Want to run a million-dollar business? It’s not a funnel, it’s learning, failing, adjusting, showing up. Every single day. What you don’t see is the years of dedication, the work, the pursuit, the failure and the persistence required to be the role model you now see.

You love the familiar. You want the easy route. You crave immediate results. That’s the conditioning we all grow up with. We don’t want problems or struggles. We want it easy and fast. The love. See it as a memory that’s already yours, just not fully downloaded yet. Live from the feeling of the wish already fulfilled. See it. Feel it. Speak it. Act like it. Repeatedly. Correctly. Consistently. For long enough. And then you must maintain it.

If you exercised, lost weight, gained muscle and a new healthy physique and then lounged around doing nothing but eating junk food you wouldn’t keep the shape for long. Hill said, many who make money doing all the right things mentally and in practice, abandon doing what works, because they start worrying how not to lose it. They changed the thinking that brought them wealth, by fearing losing it. They were no longer consistent. Get this!

They stopped doing what was working, either slacked off or returned to what didn’t work in the first place, or they replaced their success thinking with something that didn’t maintain their wealthy mindset. You can’t go all in, get results and then do something different and expect to keep the same results. You must continue to promote the positive results you created. You may not need the same intensity but you don’t stop. There’s maintanence.

Once you start getting the results you create momentum which serves you to make it easier but still you must do correct things to maintain the momentum. Napoleon Hill was right, when you imagine and then believe, you begin to achieve. Not because of magic, but because belief changes your behavior. Belief keeps you moving. Belief makes you persistent. And persistence always wins. BUT remember he said you must bring yourself to believe it!

You must convince yourself. You must manage your thinking, feeling, speaking and actions to make it happen. Once you do you continue to manage and nurture your mindset. Consider this. You still need to eat. You didn’t eat your life’s portion of food and then stop. You maintain your health and diet daily. This is true about everything. Quitting too soon is the most expensive decision you’ll ever make, as is dabbling and not diving in.

It’s the silent killer of dreams. It’s the reason why 90% of people who lose weight gain it back. It’s why most entrepreneurs never get off the ground. They stop when they should have leaned in. Let me be clear: you’re not in this for 30 days. You’re not in this for 90. You’re in this for life. If you want lasting success, you must become the kind of person who maintains it. It’s WHO YOU ARE not just what you do. It is WHO YOU ARE! Get it?

Do actors stop training once they land a role? Do athletes quit once they hit a record? No. They double down. Because success isn’t a place you visit. It’s a place you live from. You work your craft. You can change. But transformation costs too! Know this.
