Confident? Playful? Resilient? Energetic?

Choose something that uplifts you. Something that allows you to feel like your best self. Now, think of a time in your life, even if it seems small, when you already felt this way. Hear what you heard. Feel what you felt. Don’t just think about it.

According to research by Barbara Fredrickson at the University of North Carolina, experiencing positive emotions broadens our awareness and builds lasting emotional resources. In other words, the more you generate joy, peace, gratitude, the more capable and resilient you become over time.

You’re actually rewiring your brain in real time. Neuroscience validates what we’ve known since ancient times. As you revisit that good memory, you’re activating the same neurons that fired during the original experience. That’s how you begin carving new, positive neural pathways. You do it the same way you’d wear a new path through a field by walking it again and again.

REPETITION done correctly, consistently, repeatedly for long enough. The mistake many people make is they don’t practice the good stuff. They rehearse the worst-case scenarios instead. Over and over. Peace instead of panic. Calm instead of chaos.
