“The way to feeling and being better is already within you. You have everything you need inside. The deception we’ve all bought into is that help comes from the outside. We think money, friends, a better job, car or home, will make us happy. We put our faith in things or in pills and bottles when we should put our faith in ourselves. YOU are resourceful, whether you currently know it or not!
Faith in things outside of you won’t help. Faith in yourself will! You may not see it yet because of years of previous conditioning. You approach these concepts through your old habitual thinking. How else could you unless you decide to make a change? You don’t need to improve anything. Rather, you need to let go of what prevents you from seeing who you are. It’s not development, it is discovery through awareness.
Your conditioning prevents you from recognizing your true self. Worse, you don’t even know you’re conditioned. Yes, you understand the concept but aren’t able to notice it because you live and think through it. You’re identified with your conditioning. That’s why you can’t tell what it is OR what you need to do. You think about transformation from old conditioning. Its why new wine requires new wine skins. The old won’t do.
‘And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins and will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed. But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins. And no one after drinking old wine desires new wine, but says, ‘The old is good.’ Luke 5:36-39
‘Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, so that the outside may become clean as well. Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside, but on the inside are full of dead men’s bones and every kind of impurity.’ Matthew 23: 25-27
Until you awaken to the necessity to let go of the old you will remain the same within. You” continue with the cosmetic attempts to fix the outside. Transformation is not information or a realization but an experience. You must experience it to appreciate it. Until you do, the best course of action is to admit you do not know. As Socrates pointed out, ‘The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.’ ‘The unexamined life is not worth living.’ ‘There is only one good, knowledge, and one evil, ignorance.’
Knowing comes from experience. Until you eat an apple you don’t know what an apple tastes like. You don’t know its texture. You don’t know whether it is sweet or not. Sure, someone can describe it and you can think you know. BUT until you bite into it, chew it, swallow it and digest it you have no experience of it.
