“How To Use The Hours In A Day More Efficiently: Time management is the science of how to use the hours in a day more efficiently. It is done by planning. Pencil and paper are the two most powerful tools in time management. Use them to draw up your plans and calendar. Rule: Work expands to fill the time available.

This means most people take an hour to do something that can be done in ten minutes. ‘Action without planning is the cause of every failure.’ – A. Mackenzie.  Through planning and self-discipline you can learn how to make the best, and most efficient, use of your time.

Lack Of Planning Is A Major Time Waster:

Set deadlines and do until done. This is a crucial key component. Set a deadline. Work until complete. Remember, task completion is a source of energy and reward. Frequent, consistent repeated reward for your correct positive action creates new positive habit. Get it?

Failing To Plan Is Planning To Fail – Repetition Creates Habit

When you complete a task and feel good about doing so, feeling good IS the reward. These feelings, this reward, creates self-esteem and enthusiasm. It also gives you a sense of control. Feeling good about yourself, enthusiasm and self-control will keep you on track.

One minute of planning will save you ten in performance. When you plan set deadlines. Stick to them! Actually, give yourself less time to accomplish the task than too much. This will give you more time to spend on what really matters! Learn to budget your work time.

Most people work better under pressure. Control the time you work. Use self-discipline to create the pressure you need.  Self- discipline is the ability to make yourself stay focused and control your actions. Focus only on what’s important and you’ll succeed. 

Plan Your Work For Today And Everyday Then Work Your Plan

Plan Your Work And Work Your Plan:

You need to see the big picture and you need to see the details. Both are important! Both are aspects of the same thing. Create a master list, a daily list and a project list. Set long-term and short-term goals. Make a detailed organized plan of action and work your plan.

Once you have projects planned and you have set your goals work your project plans and take action steps toward your goals. Focus on one thing, or one step at a time, and complete each along the way. Make sure they are appropriately sized for ease of accomplishment.

Get Clear On Your Task:

‘What am I attempting to accomplish? How am I attempting to this carry out? Is there a better easier more fun way?’ When you complete your task put it away. Celebrate completing tasks by feeling good. Accomplishment is reward! Pat yourself on the back.

Plans Are Nothing – Planning Is Everything – Skill Comes Of Doing

Since you decide the projects, plans and goals, make them simple and easy enough that you always win! If you get overwhelmed or stressed out you aren’t winning. These are your plans. Make them small and simple. As you complete each you always win. Get it?

Do this and you will find it great time-saver overall. Each time you make your planning schedule be sure to include some activity that you work toward your long and short-term goals. Then you’ll always stay on track and you’ll continue to win all along the way. Do this!
