Instead of letting them drain your energy or keep you stuck, you can turn negativity into a powerful tool for change. Think about it this way. Are you going to spend your precious time and energy worrying about what you can’t do, or will you take that energy and transform it? It is your choice.
React and remain the same. Worrying about what’s wrong only keeps you focused on the problem. But there’s an alternative. You can respond differently and make changes. When you know how to use those negative thoughts, they become a guide, a compass pointing you toward exactly what you do want. That’s powerful, isn’t it? Learn how to harness negativity and turn it into fuel for positive change. Activate your positive attitude!
Negativity isn’t always bad when you use it. Get sucked into it and it gets worse. If instead, you realize it shows you contrast, you have a choice. Without knowing what you don’t want, it might be tough to recognize what you do want. Imagine you’re driving, and you see a sign that says, ‘Wrong Way.’ That’s helpful, right? Because it means you can adjust and get back on the right path. I always say, ‘A stop sign is a gift.’ Get this?

In the same way, negative thoughts can be helpful because they bring clarity. They help you recognize areas where you’re feeling resistance, frustration, or dissatisfaction. The key is to use them to shift into positivity and what you want without going deeper into negativity. So, the first thing you must learn to do IS recognize the signal. Notice whenever you feel stuck in negative thoughts. The sooner you do the sooner you are free.
Negativity or difficulty is your inner signal saying, ‘Pay attention!’ The moment you catch yourself focusing on what you don’t want, stop and recognize it. Awareness is the first step to transformation. Realize, ‘Aha! I’m thinking about what I don’t want right now.’ Once you recognize a negative thought, do this next. Ask yourself, ‘What do I want instead?’ For instance, if you catch yourself thinking, ‘I’ll never succeed at this,’ flip it.
Ask, ‘What would success look like for me?’ Define it. Get clear on what success means and focus your energy there. So, you notice. Stop doing the negative and then shift. Flip the script. Focus on the positive. Let’s say you’re struggling at work and find yourself constantly thinking, ‘I don’t like this job.’ This is a perfect opportunity to use that negative feeling as a springboard for change. This is why you must notice it, so you CAN use it.

Awareness is the first step and through it you transform. Instead of staying in that negative mindset, ask yourself, ‘What do I actually want in my career?’ Maybe it’s more creativity, flexibility, or a position where you feel more valued. Stop complaining. Start focusing on how you can bring those qualities into your current role, or what steps you can take to find a role that fulfills you. Get it. I’ll discuss this further in the next blog.
