“We live in a culture of shifting blame. Few are willing to be both accountable and responsible for their own actions or inaction. People blame, make excuses for themselves, and shift attention. This has been a problem since humans appeared on the earth.
It is accentuated now because we have instantaneous communication worldwide. We can see it as it occurs in everyday life and in media. It has been horribly accentuated by many politicians in the limelight, celebrities and those accused of misdeeds.
There are plenty of ‘bad’ examples of what NOT to do all around us, day and night. Turn on media and you’ll witness blaming, excusing, taking credit where none is due, shifting the attention away from issues and delivering red herrings. Obfuscation is rampant!
Don’t Talk The Talk If You Can’t Walk The Walk – Be Congruent
We need good role models, who realize everyone watches and takes their cues from them. We are not in isolation. How we behave matters. We all are examples. We either walk our talk or we don’t. People notice and then do likewise. We need positive examples!
We learn from example. We learn from modeling. We learn from role models. We look to others to know what to do when we are in unfamiliar situations. We look to others who ‘appear’ to know what they are doing. We have been doing this since we were born.
Adults do this in an environment or territory they are not familiar with. If you have ever been to an upscale, swank party with lots of silverware and multiple courses, you watch others to learn what to do, what silverware to use. We all do this in many circumstances.
Words May Lie But Actions Always Demonstrate The Truth
Children do this. Children spend time observing and assimilating the thoughts, feelings and behaviors of those around them. They model and assimilate thoughts, feelings and behaviors from family, friends, authority figures and media, movies, music, magazines and online.
We need to live and act from, and by, a higher standard of morality, ethics and behavior. If you want children and teens, as well as adults, to be better, to be more conscious, moral and upright, to operate ethically, honestly and with integrity, we need to model it for them.
If you profess to be a christian then you should live and act as jesus did. To not walk the walk is to disparage the founder and ‘sin’ against others. Sadly, this is an issue that has been, and is ongoing, in all faiths and all walks of life. Lead by living in the light!
Your Beliefs Don’t Make You A Better Person Your Actions Do
We need to evolve, and mature. Our political representatives, who seem to only represent their interests and agendas need to learn to serve the people. Our religious leaders need to serve us as well. We need to select and elect leaders who are good, positive examples.
We need better, not more of the same. We have lived with the ‘bad’ and the ‘wrong’ for long enough. Our culture, country, our faiths, are under attack. The time is ripe for a change. Attention is on the lack of integrity, honesty, morality, ethics and lack of leadership we tolerate.
If you protest our politicians and their actions do so peacefully. Be an example to those around you. Be a light. Help build a better world, locally, nationally and worldwide. This is the most important opportunity we have, to make it better. Don’t miss it.
Obstacles Do Not Block The Path – Obstacles Are The Path
We need to build better. We can build better. Becoming aware of what needs to change is the first step. We ought not spend time tearing down but rather, decide what we want and work toward that positive future. We need to celebrate every opportunity for positive change. We need to walk our talk. We need to learn how to celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes
