“Why don’t you get what you want in your life? How come you aren’t doing the things you know you should? What prevents you from creating your best life ever? Do you know? What are you doing about it? Are you just plodding along or attempting to change?
Most people miss this point. It is cliche but it is important. If you keep doing what you have always done don’t expect new or better results. All you will get is what you got before.If you perpetuate the old why would you expect to get anything but the old?
Yet, people do. Why? Because of habit. We are controlled by our habits. We run on and on off automatic, subconscious programming designed to keep up alive and keep us the same. Your brain doesn’t care if you smoke or not it only wants to keep you doing it. Why?
Our Habits Are Meant To Serve Us – It Sucks If You Have Bad Ones
Because your brain learned that is what it does. It developed the habit and now it resists changing it. Why you attempt to change the system goes haywire. Temporarily, but people think it will be permanent. Instead of ‘fighting’ through it, they give in. We all do.
Unless you learn how to ‘combat’ those tendencies. You must learn to do the new things you decide you want to do. You need to learn how to overcome that resistance to change. It is there for your good, so you want to learn how to work with it. Fighting it is really difficult.
In the next few blogs I’ll share some of what you can do to make a real difference for yourself. BUT know this: knowing what to do and actually doing it are very different. Plenty of people know what to do. What we want to learn is how to actually implement new things.
Habits Are Both Good And Bad – We’re Not Meant To Serve Them
Then we can begin to learn new habits. We can condition ourselves for success and actually follow through. You want this, don’t you? Wouldn’t you like to be able to get what you want in life without so much struggle? There may always be some, but it can get better.
If you want to make changes, know that you can, when you stop doing some of the old things that reinforce the old ways of thinking, feeling and behaving. You have to incorporate the new things that perpetuate what you want even while you will resist doing them.
