“You should be true to yourself but not when it jeopardizes yourself or others. You should follow your heart and your gut but make sure you are following your heart and not aberrant ideas. Your heart is not going to encourage you to harm anyone. Your head might.
Thoughts are thoughts. We adopt them. We think they’re our own. Yet, mostly what we think when we are ‘thinking’ is reviewing audio and visual tapes we accepted as our own while growing up. We keep reviewing or replaying the same old messages over and over.
Our heart and gut is there to tell us yes or no. Follow this. Don’t follow that. This is accurate. This isn’t. Our gut feelings are our system for calibrating. It is the guidance system to alert us to when we are on or off track. Our thoughts may deceive. Our feelings don’t.
If You Always Do What You’ve Always Done …
BUT we have to train ourselves to pay attention to our feelings again. People have been paying attention to the wrong ones mostly. This is from how we got conditioned. We got trained out of paying attention to our accurate indicators. We swapped truth for lies.
Many times we ‘think’ we’re using our gut when we aren’t. We don’t feel like going to work or cleaning the garage. We use those ‘feelings’ as excuses to not act, to procrastinate but we know better. We feel as if we should do it when we say we don’t feel like it.
Inside us we know, but we pay attention to the ones we’re most used to following. What we’re most used to following are the ones we’ve made a habit. Our bodies respond, but we react. We follow the signals we are most used to following. We follow the lies.
You Will Always Get What You Always Got..
We need to re-calibrate. We need to learn to separate what we think the feeling we should follow is, from the one we really should follow. We need to go back and learn how to trust, and have faith, in our instincts and allow ourselves to be better guided. Get it?
If your speedometer is off in your vehicle you re-calibrate it. If you’re paying attention to the wrong things you need to become aware that your system needs to be re-calibrated and re-trained. Then you operate more positively and productively. You’ll get better results.
The first step is to become aware you need to change something. The next is to decide to change. The next is to implement the correct action. The next step is to follow through. Allow feedback and adjust. Then continue the corrected practice and repeat.
Doing The Same Thing Over Expecting A Different Result Is Insane
Continue to consistently apply it and keep doing it long enough until you make it an automatic, reliable, unconscious habit that serves you better. Then your results will begin to skyrocket. If you don’t know how yet, I suggest you learn. That way you can begin to create your best life ever. Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes
