“Flexibility is a major key in being able to make changes more easily. Unfortunately, most people are living robots or automatons. They live day in and day out on autopilot. They spend time in the same places with the same people. They go to the same jobs, eat the same foods in the same places, engage in the same recreational activities with little variety to spice things up.

Our brains crave novelty and stimulation. Our brains like challenges and look for solutions. Give your brain new things to do AND new ways to do things and it will love you. Learn something new. Memorize something new. Do something new and different. Provide your brain with the stimulation it craves, and you will feel better off. You will be better off. Your brain craves this.

Take a different way to school or work. Try different foods. Eat in new places with new people. Expand your horizons. Spend time around new and different people in new and different places. Spend time with people you never would. Think different thoughts. Take a class or workshop. Put your attention on others. Watch different shows. Read books you normally wouldn’t.

LEARN TO LIVE LIFE ON YOUR TERMS AND CREATE THE LIFE YOU WANT

If your first instinct is to say ‘nah, not for me’ then you must. The very fact you resist is evidence you need to do this. Give it a shot. Who knows you might just like it. Listen to people with different points of view; different politics, different religion, different anything. Listen not to argue but to learn something different. If they provoke and challenge you, good. Don’t fight!

Listen, allow and learn. Accept. Stop rejecting. You are already good at rejecting others and other things. Seek new and novel, safe experiences. Roll down a hill. Spin like a whirling dervish. Dance with abandon. I bet you haven’t done much of this. People often dance to look cool. Skip. Walk and enjoy new territory. Sleep with your head at the foot of the bed.

Try a different cleansing order when bathing. Brush your teeth and eat your food using the other hand. All of it will seem difficult or odd at first and THAT’s the point. Challenge yourself. Dress in a different order. Wear clothes that ‘just aren’t you’. Put together puzzles. Try crossword, sudoku or other games. Take up some new hobbies.

LEARN TO LIVE LIFE ON YOUR TERMS AND CREATE THE LIFE YOU WANT

Read books, listen to music, watch movies or TV shows you wouldn’t ordinarily. Try some new sports or recreation. Keep learning. Keep Growing! Keep doing new things. Add novelty into your daily life. Mix it up and have fun. Stay sharp and live well. Enjoy discovering new things you can do that help you stay young, mentally fit and overall, more healthy.

Stop doing everything the old way. Break up your routines and explore some new ways to enjoy yourself! It will help you make other positive changes more easily. Flexibility in thinking comes with practice. Flexibility in feeling comes with practice. Flexibility in behavior comes with practice. To be more flexible you must do flexibility exercises.

Stretching makes you more flexible. It may take some time. Yoga makes the body more flexible. You want a flexible body and a flexible mind. You can do more things when you are flexible. You can see more possibilities and opportunities and take more advantage of them WHEN you are more flexible. Be less robotic and more open to new and different possibilities. Stop being the same. Be different. Try on new things. Become new from the renewing of your mind. What might you find fascinating today? Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes
