“What does ‘it is easier done than thought’ mean? It means doing it is easier than thinking about doing it. People talk themselves out of positive things before they even attempt. They come up with reasons and excuses why they can’t do it. It is easier to do it in many cases than it is considering doing it. Old habits seem to die hard. That is why you want to develop positive habits that serve you better. That includes thinking better. You can do it!
Henry Ford’s statement, ‘if you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right’ is significant. It’s important to think right even more than taking actions. You can be busy but not productive. You can waste time doing things that get nowhere. You can feel disappointed thinking about something without ever doing it. Develop your attitude and mindset to serve you to live the life you desire by making the good you want to happen. You can!
Create right thinking habits. That is the first step. I’ll show you in a moment how you can do both. Improve your thinking and doing at the same time. If you had to eat an elephant, you’d still do it bite by bite. The same is true for your thinking and doing. Make it simple and easy. Create wins that make you want to win more. People who play sports play because they enjoy it and because they enjoy it, they play it. Have fun making positive changes.
DEVELOP THE POSITIVE ATTITUDE, MINDSET AND BELIEFS TO TRANSFORM YOURSELF
You can learn to make anything a habit if you want to. Start simple. Start small. Keep it easy. Here’s a way to make keeping your word to yourself a habit. Each day make a short list of four or five tasks you want to complete before the day’s end. If you prefer, do it the night before. Keep your list of things you can do that day. They shouldn’t be overwhelming or too time consuming. Start simply with smaller but significant things to do.
They could be things like taking the trash out. Call a friend or make that business call. Walk your pet. Straighten up your desk or work area before leaving. Practice piano. Read a chapter in a book. Keep it easy enough to do. Once you complete a task, cross it off your list. Notice how good it feels to complete it. Pat yourself on the back. Give yourself a little praise for doing it. Acknowledge that you accomplished this in a timely fashion.
When you’ve completed all on your list again notice how good it feels. Pat yourself on the back. Enjoy and celebrate your success. You might be amazed at how good you feel. Give yourself a tiny reward or healthy treat. Do something special. Relax. Watch that show you wanted. Take a bath or enjoy a walk. Do something that makes you feel good. It should be a positive token for a job well done. Repeat this process the next day.

Correct, consistent, spaced repetition for long enough creates a habit. Repeat the behavior you want to learn, again and again, each day and soon it will be a habit. As it becomes a habit your confidence or belief in yourself to follow through AND your follow through will become stronger. Muscles grow when you exercise them repeatedly. Mental and emotional muscles grow the same way. Motivation comes from doing and completing.
Feeling good about what you accomplished leads to wanting and being able to do more. Do nothing and nothing changes. Do this process and you engage the process. The more you do the more you become capable of doing. It gets easier as you do it. Soon you will be up to handling larger tasks and more important promises. You will have made follow through and completion a habit. Just nurture yourself along and keep moving in this direction.
When you want to or must accomplish something really big or important you’ll be able to. You’ll think about it differently and more positively than you would have previously. You’ll also see it as a collection of smaller tasks that you can do instead of one big or overwhelming one. You will have learned to make things smaller and do them in steps or stages. It won’t be daunting, and you won’t be doubtful. Your abilities to do it will have grown.

You will follow through and keep your word. You will do whatever it takes because you become a ‘can do’ person. That will make you feel even better! You build a success cycle. That is what momentum is about. What seems tough at first gets easier. If your car is stalled on a flat surface, you might need to give it a big push but once you get it moving you can keep it rolling along with far, far less effort. Momentum moves the car with small pushes.
You’ll feel better about yourself because of these changes. You’ll believe in and trust yourself. You keep your promises to yourself and as you keep your word to others you’ll enjoy and get known for keeping your word. You’ll develop the reputation as one whose word is golden. Place a high priority on doing what you say you will, and you will absolutely transform your life! I wonder how surprised and delighted you will be when you begin taking responsibility and get more things done easier and more swiftly all because you decided to? Enjoy the process.
