“Get over it: Mistakes happen. Embrace, learn, and move forward! What else is there to do but make the best of it. What is done, is done. Mistakes happen. We’ve all done it. Big or small, mistakes happen. They’re part of life. The question isn’t if you’ll make mistakes, it’s how you respond when you do. Mistakes can be powerful teachers, helping you grow, adapt, and build resilience. Understand this!
You’re human. As a human you make mistakes. Own it! We’ve been conditioned to dislike and fear mistakes, often starting with those dreaded red marks on our school papers. This conditioning can create an aversion to failure. But here’s the truth: failure is how we grow! Every wobble, every slip, every fall helps guide us toward success. Imagine if babies quit trying to walk the first time they fell.
They don’t give up; they try again until they master each new movement. That’s how you learned everything from crawling to feeding yourself. Stop obsessing over making mistakes. It’s a part of life. Appreciate that you are here and alive despite all the mistakes you’ve made. Get this. You are succeeding despite errors, boneheaded moves, and the shitstorms that resulted. Celebrate. Yes!
DEVELOP THE POSITIVE ATTITUDE, MINDSET AND BELIEFS TO TRANSFORM YOURSELF
Focus forward. Here’s the secret: if you focus on failure, you’re likely to create more of it. Our minds bring about what we dwell on. Focus on what you do want, not on avoiding mistakes. For example, a child hearing “don’t spill your milk” is more likely to spill it than if they’d just been left to pour it. It’s the same with us; whatever we dwell on grows stronger in our lives. So, shift your focus toward success.
I repeat, shift toward success AND not away from failure. Let go of failure. You don’t have to resist it or try to avoid it. Just let it go. Steer yourself towards what you DO want, not what you don’t. Focus on what you do well. Give yourself credit. Remember, you’re here and alive so you are succeeding. GIVE YOURSELF SOME CREDIT. STOP dwelling on mistakes present or past, or the possibility in the future.
Focus on what you’ve done well, are doing well and can do well in the future. Give yourself some credit. Appreciate yourself. Appreciate that you made mistakes, survived and perhaps corrected some. So, keep this in mind. Often, you’re doing things right. It’s easy to let one slip-up overshadow dozens of achievements, but remember, you’re capable, you’re talented, and you’re growing!
DEVELOP THE POSITIVE ATTITUDE, MINDSET AND BELIEFS TO TRANSFORM YOURSELF
Take time to recognize what you’ve done well and celebrate your successes, both big and small. Success is built on the foundation of small, steady victories. Embrace mistakes and move one. Thomas Edison said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” Each setback taught him something essential for his ultimate success. Walt Disney was once fired from a job for “lacking imagination.”
Instead of letting that stop him, he pursued his vision and went on to create an empire. Both Edison and Disney didn’t just ignore their mistakes, they learned from them and kept moving forward. That’s what makes them legends. Before becoming a beloved comedy icon, Lucille Ball faced multiple career setbacks. She was dismissed from drama school for being ‘too shy’ and struggled for years to establish herself.
At one point, she was even labeled the ‘Queen of B-movies.’ refusing to give up, Ball eventually found her place in television and created the classic sitcom I Love Lucy, one of the most successful shows of all time. Reframe mistakes as steppingstones to success BECAUSE they truly are. Yes, you don’t normally think that way, SO CHANGE your thinking to accommodate that notion. Get this!

Early in her career, Anna Wintour was fired from her position as a junior fashion editor at Harper’s Bazaar because her edgy, innovative ideas were considered too bold. She also faced several other career roadblocks due to her unconventional approach. Wintour didn’t let this deter her. She went on to become the editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine, where she reshaped the fashion industry with her unique vision..
Every mistake contains valuable lessons. Successful people know this. They make mistakes, own up, and keep moving. When you slip up, pause, reflect on the lesson, and get back on track. Apologize, if necessary, make it right, and move forward with purpose. Harness the power of mistakes instead of resisting it. When you fight it, you lose. Make mistakes, correct and go on. That’s how you learn.
A rocket to the moon is mostly off course most of the time. It’s continually correcting its course to hit the target. Adjust and continue. So, remember, I said give yourself some credit. And do it today. Appreciate yourself. Love yourself. Accept yourself. Accept that slip-ups occur. AND that it is all okay. It is how you learn and grow. When you adjust and correct, you demonstrate you’re pretty darn smart.
