“Buddha told his disciples not to waste their time and energy in speculation about metaphysical things. When asked a metaphysical question, he always remained silent. Instead, he directed his disciples toward practical efforts. One time when asked about the infinity of the world, Buddha replied, ‘Whether the world is finite or infinite, limited or unlimited, the problem of your liberation remains the same.’ Focus on the practical.

On another occasion Buddha said. ‘Suppose a man is struck by a poisoned arrow. The doctor wants to remove it immediately, but the man doesn’t want it removed until it’s clear he knows who shot it, his age, his parents, and why he shot it. What would happen? If he were to wait until all these questions are answered, the man might die first.’ And when dead, all those things would remain unknown to him. Get it?

Stop wasting time in useless pursuits. Life is far too short to get caught in things that don’t matter. Get here now. Be here now. Stop looking for answers that do not change anything, that exist whether you know the answers and will still exist after you’re gone. Buddha encouraged us to be practical. Take care of what is at hand. The dog never catches its tail. Stop wasting time on looking for answers that don’t change anything.
