“The more intense your good feelings are, the more swiftly you bring about positive change. There’s great power in living optimistically and vibrantly! Make yourself feel a little bit better each day. Whenever you notice you’re not feeling great, do something positive to feel better. Take a break, take a walk, get some exercise or some rest. Read something inspirational or chant your affirmations.
Chant them firmly enthusiastically! Hang around positive people. Smile more! Wake up the positive physical energy in your body by moving your body more. Dance, shake, skip, twirl, jump. Wake yourself up. The more energy you awaken the more there is to awaken. Use your mind in positive ways. The more energy you put into it the more you get from it. Feel vibrant and alive.
There’s more energy in an empty inch of space than in all the world’s power sources. There’ plenty to go around. Energy flows where your attention goes! You are alive! All your trillions of cells are alive and vibrating. You have more than sufficient energy, but you may not be using it. Too many people feel only okay. They robotically move from day to day. They don’t choose to awaken and enjoy life fully.
They do the same routines, accepting that this is how it is and don’t have much to look forward to. Others do the same routines, THE SAME ROUTINES as the others, but they feel alive, delighted and fulfilled. Those others put all their hope in things outside themselves to rescue them. They live as victims. Those who live fully and completely know it comes from within. From within to without.
You can live as victors by awakening the energy within you. Your positive thoughts are extra powerful when combined with the most intense positive good feelings! The more intense the feelings, the easier the subconscious mind gets the message. It reproduces more of the goodness we give to it through powerful feelings. Nocebo effects with antidepressant clinical drug trial placebos

ABSTRACT:
We describe an individual who experienced unusual negative effects while taking a placebo during a clinical drug trial. A 26-year-old male took 29 inert capsules, believing he was overdosing on an antidepressant. Subsequently, he experienced hypotension requiring intravenous fluids to maintain an adequate blood pressure until the true nature of the capsules was revealed. The adverse symptoms then rapidly abated. The nocebo effect (undesirable symptoms following administration of an inert substance that the patient believes to be an active drug) may have significant negative impacts on certain patients. Further research is warranted to better understand this phenomenon.

Nocebo in fibromyalgia: meta-analysis of placebo-controlled clinical trials and implications for practice

Background: Nocebo refers to adverse effects (AEs) generated by negative expectations that medical treatment will likely harm instead of heal and can be assessed in placebo-controlled randomized clinical trials (RCTs). We examined AEs following placebo administration in RCTs for fibromyalgia (FM), a condition characterized by patients’ poor medication adherence, which may affect outcome and/or increase healthcare costs.
Methods: Following a systematic Medline search for RCTs for FM pharmacologic treatment published between 2001 and 2010, we assessed percentages of placebo-treated patients reporting at least one AE or discontinuing because of placebo intolerance and searched for factors influencing nocebo’s extent. Percentages were compared with those revealed by similar meta-analyses of RCTs for multiple sclerosis and primary headaches.
Results: Data were extracted from 16 RCTs fulfilling search criteria. Of 2026 placebo-treated patients, 67.2% (95%CI: 51.0-81.5%) reported at least one AE, and 9.5% (95%CI: 8.3-10.9%) discontinued placebo treatment because of intolerance. AEs in placebo arms corresponded quantitatively and qualitatively to those in active drug arms (ρ > 0.88, P < 0.0001). Younger age and larger placebo arm size were associated with increased dropout rates. Patients with depression were more likely to withdraw from trials. Nocebo dropouts in FM trials were fourfold and twofold higher than in RCTs for multiple sclerosis treatment and migraine preventive treatment, respectively.
Conclusions: Nocebo is remarkably prevalent in FM patients participating in RCTs. Because nocebo contributes to drug intolerance and treatment failure in clinical practice, identification of predisposing factors and efforts to prevent nocebo by educating these patients appropriately may be important for FM outcome.
The placebo effect suggests your mind can be as powerful in some cases as the treatment itself.

‘The effects of positive expectancy in a study of 152 cancer patients at Travis Air Force Base, the major Air Force medical facility on the West Coast. Five staff members rated the patients on their attitude toward treatment and evaluated their responses to treatment over the next eighteen months. The results were clear: those patients with positive attitudes had better responses to treatment; those with negative attitudes had poorer responses. In fact, of the 152 patients only two who had shown a negative attitude had a good response to treatment. The most significant finding of the study was that a positive attitude toward treatment was a better predictor of response to treatment than was the severity of the disease. That is, patients who had very serious prognoses but positive attitudes did better than patients who had relatively less serious prognoses but negative attitudes. In addition, patients who began to view their treatments positively often reported reduced side effects.’ …

Enjoy the best feelings you have. Feel good right now in your present. Your feelings are your vibrations. Vibe the highest frequency with the most wonderful intensity. This alone will transform your life.
The more time you spend feeling good the quicker you can accomplish your goals and make your dreams come true. The more time you feel good the more time you WILL be able to feel good. You get back great returns on your investment when you think and feel positive most of your time. Fill your mind with positive, optimistic, grateful thoughts and you’ll feel better. Think and grow happy.
When you feel great and you are passionate and enthused, when you are eager and are filled with energy, you think clearer and can keep going longer. Your intense feelings make you powerful. Feeling intensely good in the present moment makes everything work better! Everything works together more smoothly when you are feeling this way because your nervous system works better.
Negativity and stress take its toll on your health and wellbeing. It robs you of your energy. Everything is constricted. You don’t think as well, feel as well or act as well. Your immune system gets depressed. But live with joy, gratitude, enthusiasm and you promote wellbeing, health and extra ability. It works! Some people may think, ‘Well, if I could feel good I would.’ You need to take charge.
You’ll never think and feel your best if you expect the outer world to make you happy or better. It doesn’t work that way. That only provides a temporary relief. Events and circumstances you celebrate pass. BUT when you make feeling wonderful a habit it is reliable and long lasting. It becomes your way of life. It’s reliable. It then works automatically as all habits do. It becomes second nature.
The way to feel better IS to take control, even when you don’t feel like it, and control your thoughts and feelings. Learn to do the things that make you feel better. A few things that help in this are to eat right, sleep right and get enough exercise. Eliminate chemicals and additives. Sit, stand and move with more energy. Get a massage. Many suggestions are in my previous blog posts and my book.
This is WHY we fill our mind with positive thoughts. It’s why we read and listen to inspiring materials. It IS why we visualize our goals as completed and feel the feelings of that accomplishment. It is why we monitor our self-talk to ensure it is positive. It’s why we affirm out loud and passionately. It’s not possible to feel ecstasy or joy all the time but you can spend more time feeling these.
Your default setting can be far more positive, optimistic, joyful and grateful than yours is right now. Making this a habit helps you feel your best more of the time and even during times of difficulty. Whenever you’ re feeling less-than-glorious you can make yourself feel just a little bit better. This works! Nudge yourself in the direction of feeling good. Encourage it. DO it.
You’ll discover so many positive changes it will astound you. Why? Because It’s a system of self-management available to use that few ever discover. You now know about it. It’s time to learn how to do it. Put yourself in the driver’s seat 100% and take responsibility for whatever happens good or bad. Take responsibility for managing your thoughts and feelings.
Steer yourself in the most positive direction. You don’t have to try to leap from sadness to ecstasy, that may be too big of a jump. Just make yourself feel a little bit better. That starts you on the path to overall well-being. Step by step. You do not have to do it all at once or even in one day. In time you’ll learn how to feel your best.
Celebrate everything life offers. Good or not-so-good. Learn to appreciate the gift of life you have and find what you can and are thankful and grateful for and emphasize it. Focus on it. “People limit themselves by feeling strong negative emotions about what they want or don’t have. They feel strongly afraid, or hurt or depressed and end up getting back more of the same. The subconscious delivers or reproduces strong emotions regardless of whether they are positive or negative. These emotions become habitual or the default mode in which they live. Instead of living life they dread it.
If they don’t dread it they tolerate it. The attitude is ‘same s%*t, different day’ or ‘if life is a bowl of cherries, I am living in the pits.’ These attitudes, moods, mindsets become so pervasive, and fit so well, most people don’t even realize they go through life this way. They miss out without noticing it. Sure, they know they miss the good things, don’t have enough and are dissatisfied. BUT…
They don’t realize they are doing it. They are perpetuating the very notions and experiences they do not want. To change, one must become aware of their part in the process. You can’t claim to be a victim and take charge of your life. You must decide to stop doing the old ways and begin doing the new. You must pay attention to what messages you are sending your subconscious and change them.
Don’t be haphazard. You can’t be haphazard, that’s what got you there. You must put yourself in charge and aim your thoughts and feelings like a laser beam. If you want to be happy you must choose to be happy. If you want love in your life you must choose to be loving. If you want to be rich you must choose to be wealthy. If you want health, you must dedicate yourself to having it and healing.
Zest for life is what makes life worth living. Happy and successful people are passionate and intense. They go for what they want. They choose to be happy and successful. They enjoy their lives and their work. Their emotions are powerful. You can feel their energy when you’re around them. Creative energy is intense. They pursue their dreams with passion and expect to succeed. They expect it.
They know it. People who make money (think, ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ ) are intense. While that isn’t a healthy example it demonstrates that they don’t sit and let life happen to them. They make their lives what they want them to be. They’re not half-assed, namby-pamby, wishy washy, ‘oh well, ho hum’ people. They live to their fullest. They grab life and make life work for them. Attitude is everything.
When you live with passion, when you fill yourself with positive feelings and energy you become unstoppable. You don’t need to be licentious to enjoy life as in the example. Better if you aren’t. When you live with goodness, kindness, compassion and generosity things work out better for you because you connect with others who live similarly. Then you’ve access to positive opportunities and resources.
You become a powerhouse. Feel your power. How you think determines how you feel. How you feel determines how you think. Energy flows where attention goes. If you want to feel better, think better. If you want to think better, put a spring in your step. Shake up your body, dance, skip, twirl. Stand and move with confidence, energy and liveliness. Energy begets energy. Act alive and you feel alive.
The more you feel the good feelings now the more changes you will readily make. Live with passion. Feel fully. Commit to feeling WAY better than okay. Notice when you aren’t feeling good and take steps to feel better. Even if you only make yourself feel a little bit better, you are doing something valuable. You are either growing or dying. You are either positive or negative.
The more and the longer you devote yourself to thinking positively about yourself and your goals while feeling intensely wonderful, the more quickly and easily your life will change. The more time you spend smiling and feeling happy the better off you will be. You are either feeling good or you are not. Notice, become aware, and make the positive changes as necessary.
Live as the driver in charge of your life. Steer your thoughts and feelings to the most positive and glorious. Take yourself to the places you want to go. The more time you spend thinking and feeling wonderfully, the more wonderful you will be. You get and become what you spend most of your time thinking about. Take charge of your life and live it fully and completely.
After all, what else is there? Life is to be enjoyed. Few do, but you can. Appreciation appreciates! Express your gratitude, your joys and your love and passion much more often. Make it a daily ritual to be grateful and celebrate. Enjoy life. Love yourself. Do it. Decide to think, feel and live better. Speak better and act better. Be positive and optimistic. Smile and exude positivity.
You will discover that by taking small steps in the right direction, though it may seem unfamiliar, awkward or difficult at first, it becomes easier and easier. Just as you get better at anything with correct practice, you’ll get better with this. When you feel vibrantly positive and alive you can get through any hardship faster. When you celebrate and feel thankful and aren’t distracted by any circumstances you excel. FEEL GOOD NOW makes all the difference in the world. “The reason you get crappy results are few, simple but pervasive. Two things are possible. 1. You are focused on what you DO NOT want. You think and imagine what you want but really, you’re more focused on what you want to avoid or get rid of AND not what you want. What you think about, you bring about. If you are focused on the opposite of what you want, that’s what you get.
Change this if this is what you are doing. You need to check this and make certain you direct your attention at what you want and imagine living from that. Live as if you already have it in your imagination. Feel it. See it from your point of view. Experience having it within using all your senses. Experience what it’s like to already be it. Experience what it’s like to already be doing it.
Experience what it’s like to already have it. You own it. Feel it. If you already have it you don’t want it because you already are it, are doing it or you already have it. Get this. This is very important because 2. You’re thinking about NOT HAVING what it is you want. You’re in that gap between having it and not having it. A bridge spans both sides. You must be on the side you want to be on, not anywhere else.
Some people don’t realize they/re focused on lack. They think they are focused on what they want but instead are thinking mostly about what they don’t yet have. They notice the distance between where they are, and their goal and they despair. You do not move uphill thinking downhill thoughts. You can’t want something and feel bad about not having it and expect to get it.
You can’t be looking at the gap and feeling great. You can’t be focused on how far you are from the finish line. You need to focus on having already won the prize and how great that feels. Mentally and emotionally excel and give your best. Some people want to speed read books as much as possible to get all sorts of info. It is not about how fast you do something.
It is not about how quick you get success. It is about HOW MUCH TIME YOU PUT INTO getting what you want and the quality of that time. It is better to devote a half hour of concentrated focus on your goals than to be hasty and spend much of your time wanting, wishing, doubting, worrying and afraid you won’t get it. It takes time for seeds to sprout and plants to grow.
The quality of the time spent makes all the difference in your ability to reach your goal more readily and easily. Since it may take time to get what you want the question is how you are spending your time? If you were absolutely certain you had it, how would you think, feel, speak and behave? If you’d won the lottery and they were sending a check on a certain date how would you feel prior to getting it?
A plant is either growing or dying. You’re either mostly positive or mostly negative. To get what you want as soon as possible you need to be mostly positive and optimistic, feeling wonderful most of the time. You can add in positive practices bit by bit that make you feel better and better. You can decide to begin and end each day well. I have given you some ideas for this in other posts.
I’ll share the 2nd ingredient in an upcoming blog. This blog site is devoted to assisting anyone in making changes. There are powerful ideas and principles shared in each article. Re-read this blog and spend time filling your mind with positive ideas. In my workshops we have an added advantage of troubleshooting and answering questions, providing immediate feedback that we don’t have here.
So, I am trying to be as thorough and complete as possible in each post to point you towards what you can do to make a real difference in your career and life. If you want to be happy you need to begin by thinking happy thoughts. It doesn’t work the other way around. Thinking external things bring us happiness is one of the great lies. You create it all within you and then in your outer world. The results you get are determined by your dominant thoughts and feelings. “Before we get to the second thing, here is an important reminder. This is the difference that makes all the difference in the world. This reminder determines whether we get what we want or what we don’t want. Whether we are intentional and live our lives successfully and happily or by default accepting whatever comes our way. The upside is positive creation. The downside is drifting and chaos.
We become what we think about most frequently. What we think about we bring about. What we think determines our feelings and our feelings then contribute to what we continue to think. Thoughts and feelings work synergistically in a loop. Positive thoughts give rise to positive feelings which in turn feed more positive thoughts. Negative thoughts create more negative feelings and thoughts.
It’s our feelings that drive the show. The thoughts are like the ignition in your auto. It starts the process, but the feelings take you from point A to B. The combination of thought and feelings are what make your life what it is presently. You create your reality and future from what you are currently thinking and feeling. The results you get are of your own doing whether you’re aware of it or not.
WHEN our thoughts and feelings are positive, and devoted to what we want and can make happen, most of the time each day, we get and become what we think about. Where do you spend most of your time? How you spend your time thinking and feeling is crucial. You want the preponderance of your time spent thinking and feeling good. The better you feel, the better you create and attract.
Are you thinking about your goal as already completed? Are you visualizing and speaking positively to yourself in your self-talk? Are you celebrating and feeling wonderful? Are your thoughts mostly about how incredible everything is and how thankful you are? If not, they need to be. How you spend most of your time determines the results you get. Sadly, many entertain fear, worry, doubt, anger and sadness.
Are you mostly positive or negative? What do you spend most of your time dwelling on? Is it the good you experience or the not-so-good? If you are focused on events, people and circumstances that you don’t want you create and attract more of the same. What are you filling your mind with? Are you spending time focused on making your dreams come true? You oversee what you do.
If you don’t think you are, that is the very first thing you need to change. Are you distracted and scattered, thinking about day-to-day problems and issues? Are you filled with the media’s daily disturbing news and gossip or are you filling your mind with inspiring, positive motivational thoughts, ideas and materials? Are you whining and complaining about lack and circumstances?
Is your focus mostly on what you don’t have or haven’t gotten yet OR on making your dreams come true? What are you reading and listening to? What you pay attention and entertain makes all the difference in the world! Successful people are devoted to their success. You must be MOSTLY concentrating on success and happiness to get what you want.
Whether it;s money, career, fame, family, love, health, relationships or things, what you focus on and how is important. You can’t spend 95% of your time worried, anxious and fearful, sad or feeling defeated and expect to be happy, healthy and whole. You must devote yourself to spending more and more of your time thinking positive and feeling wonderful.
You need the preponderance of your time to be productively focused. Some people think they are focused on what they want but they feel bad when they think about it. We’ll discuss more of what you can do to change the balance from less-than-glorious to glorious coming up in next blogs. For now, notice what you are doing. Pay attention. 1. Time.
The amount of time you spend on your personal happiness, success and development is important. Some people want it fast because that’s what we’ve become conditioned to think is desirable. The marketing ‘powers that be’ deceive us into valuing quickness over doing a deep dive and savoring the nuances you discover. They lead us to think everything should be fast and cheap.
Advertisers pitch speedy results every day. Unfortunately, that is not the way of nature. For everything there is a season. Some things just take time. If we put time above everything else, we miss so much goodness. Some experiences you don’t want to happen fast. We need to appreciate that not everything happens quickly but happens in its own time and that is desirable and beneficial.
How much time things take shouldn’t be your first consideration. Neither should cost. You might want to value the benefits, results, the abilities you discover and learn to use. There’s no substitute for experience. Instead of shortchanging yourself, dedicate yourself. You can microwave a Thanksgiving meal, or you can prepare and enjoy a real feast. What is most important to you? That’s up to you.
If you’re in the process of becoming a better person, or manifesting a dream, be in the process. Don’t try to rush. Emphasize quality versus speed. Seek to be the best. Seek the best. The best is usually not the quickest. Understand what you focus on matters. Focus on being the best regardless how long it takes. Energy flows where your attention goes. Think the best. Get it? “Once you decide to make changes and follow through on that decision you are in a new process. Whether you’re at the beginning or somewhere along the way, you’ve entered the process we call the Conscious Competence stage of learning and acquisition. There are four defined stages. Not knowing you don’t know we call Unconscious Incompetence. Then there’s knowing you don’t know.
It’s called Conscious Incompetence. The longest phase you will be in is the Conscious Competence and it’s where you attempt new things, get feedback, talk yourself through it and attempt to consciously manage all the components. It’s that phase you went through while learning to ride a bike or drive a car. How you go through this determines how swiftly and easily you go through this phase.
Eventually, you acquire new habits or thought, feeling, speaking and action, the wire in neurologically and become automatic and reliable. You don’t have to think about the learning process any longer, in the same way you eventually rode the bike or drove the car. You now do it. This phase we call Unconscious Competence because you don’t have to think about it to do it. You can, but don’t have to.
While in process know you aren’t done. You are on the way to making your new skills a habit, but you aren’t there yet. Relax in the process. Don’t fight it. Understand it. Work with it. You move through it faster when you assist it instead of resisting it. Be patient. Pursue your dreams with a relaxed positive mindset. Remind yourself, you are IN the process! Enjoy it. Have fun. Make it fun. Delight in it.
Just as when you cook a beautiful meal you prepare it, season it, and cook it. It takes the time it takes. If you remove it from the oven early, it won’t be the meal you anticipate. Give it the time it needs. As you develop the habits of success you gain momentum. Everything becomes easier and you handle difficulties better. It takes time and correct repetition for a long enough time for a habit to be born.
You are creating new neural pathways and behaviors. New thoughts lead to new behaviors. It’s an exciting time if you let it be. It can be a time of delight and wonderful enjoyment. You will learn and have many ‘ahas’ and insights that can thrill you and inspire you. You can be motivated and excited to incorporate your learnings. Best thing you can do is love yourself, encourage and nurture yourself.
End self-criticism. Stop thinking you should be further along. You are where you are. Enjoy it. Validate it. Pat yourself on the back. Affirm your progress and enjoy your progress. Recognize where you are in the process, and it becomes easier. It may not make everything fantastic but when you understand a bit about what you are going through and what you may expect to encounter it takes the edge off.
Once the edge is off, you’re free to feel as incredible as you will choose to. It is up to you! This recognition and understanding allows you to remember to put your attention in areas that matter. That way you don’t drift or get distracted. Stay focused. Don’t get sidetracked by circumstances, doubts, fear or worry. If you delight in the process, you’ll stay focused much more naturally. It works this way.

“Hardship helps us! It’s part of life. Some gripe and think life should be easier. They give up when the going gets rough. People get comfortable and lazy. They don’t stretch and grow. They become set in their ways, mentally, emotionally, physically. The brain while keeping you consistent craves novelty, challenge and growing opportunities. Use it or lose it is what Neuroplasticity is about. Use it well.
The brain grows. Ignore it and it atrophies. Life is a process and ever changing. Yet, people want to keep it comfortably fixed. They’d like to end upheavals and live without issue. Life just isn’t that way. Not only is life a process but you are a process. Your being is a living process. YOU are in the PROCESS of changing. You aren’t at the end yet. Everything changes. Good or not-so-good is your judgement.
Most want only good. They do anything to eliminate and avoid the not-so-good but the not-so-good serves a purpose. It gives us things to do. It challenges us. It requires us to examine ourselves and what’ going on. It forces us to be different as circumstances change. It makes us leave our comfort zone. Oh, how we hate it, but it’s a gift. It is an opportunity for so many things. It is good for us.
Like bad tasting medicine. We could decide to think, feel, speak and act differently. few of us will because most will fall back into their default conditioning. They will live habitually as they have and react to the difficulty as they always do instead of transforming it. Instead of learning from it and understanding their role in it they’ll fight it, complain about it and blame. This doesn’t help much.
When we get to the end of our rope. When we run into our old programming and finally discover it is not adequate to navigate the difficulty, is when we can stop perpetuating the old, release it and begin to explore new ways to think, feel and be. There’s a price to pay for everything. The price for transformation is being forged through pressure and heat as coal is to become diamonds. As steel is.
You must endure and be strong. This is why mindset is important. Weak thinking leads to the same old poor results. When troubles come along instead of first resisting and setting up more conflict, decide to attempt to welcome it. Yes, welcome it. Take it as an important love letter from a trusted friend. Attempt to discover what you can learn about yourself, what you must learn to transform. Investigate.
Instead of complaining and blaming, accept responsibility for it whether that is an honest, accurate assessment or not. Think, this is happening for me. I brought it to me to learn and to change and to grow and to be better off. Accept it and be grateful. Some will say they can’t do this. Others do it because they’ve learned to. You can too. Whatever is worth learning may seem difficult at first.
However, the more you do the more you can do. You can acquire new positive habits that serve you better than the previous conditioning you got while growing up. Then you didn’t have a choice. Now, you can choose how you want it. Imagine these circumstances are there for your ultimate good. You will learn and grow as a result. You don’t know what the good is, but you know it’s there for you.
Accept all. Celebrate it all. Appreciate all. Allow all even while you work to change it. When you release the old conditioning and your reactions you are more likely to intuitively discover the right thoughts, feelings and right actions that will bring about better results. If you celebrate all the journey while journeying the entire experience is better and more enjoyable. Explore. Adventure. Be grateful.
Elevate your thinking and feelings. Vibe high. Seek to rise above difficulty. You’re bigger than problems and issues. You must learn this. Discover the infinite possibilities, opportunities and resources within and around you. These events, these people, these circumstances that most don’t want are gifts of awareness and transformation when we understand them to be and appreciate them. Get this and you get so much. Think life is good and I always land on my feet. I don’t know what’ is here for me but I know ultimately it is here for my good. With the right attitude you can do anything.
