I frequently ask people what does the word ‘stuck’ mean or imply? Answer, frozen, trapped. unable to move or make progress. If you aren’t stuck, what are you capable of? Answer, moving. If you’re stuck, what do you want and need to do to get unstuck? Move. Simplistic, yes, I know but the point is, if you are stuck in your thinking, doing the same thing repeatedly what do you want to do to change. Move. Shift. Think differently. Get it?

Once you understand the importance of shifting your mindset, the next step is learning how to reframe limiting beliefs into positive and powerful ones. Let’s explore how to do just that. First things first. Identify your limiting beliefs. You don’t have to worry about subconscious beliefs that some people want you to worry about. Your limiting beliefs often hide behind excuses, fears, or the stories we tell yourself. You don’t have to dig for them!

Pay attention to phrases like: ‘I can’t because…’ ‘I’m not the kind of person who…’ ‘It’s too late for me to…’ ‘I’m not good enough…’ ‘I’ll never make it…’ People like me don’t succeed…’ These thoughts are red flags signaling a deeper, unexamined belief. To begin to change, realize that is a lie. Just say to yourself, ‘Not true.’ ‘That’s a lie.’ And begin to question the validity of those beliefs.

You could ask yourself; Where did this belief come from? Is it based on fact or fear? What evidence exists to challenge it? For example, you might believe, ‘I’m too old to start a new career.’ But countless people like Vera Wang, who became a fashion designer in her 40s, or Colonel Sanders who became rich and famous in his late 60’s prove otherwise. Stop believing lies. Stop accepting them as true. They’re only anchored old feelings.
