I wish I’d taken a video. I just want to share this delightful experience! All I have is this one photograph towards the end of a delightful event. Yesterday, as I drove up the road there was a male turkey standing in the center of the road and he did not appear to want to move. I inched forward but he stayed still.
I waited, stopped, and then noticed to the right side of the road off the shoulder was a female turkey and some young ones lined up, but one kept running around. When she finally succeeded getting her last child to get in the row – the male stayed standing his ground and firm in the center of the road UNTIL the female got the chick in line and start crossing the road.
The young turkey ran back-and-forth a few times and the male stayed put. When she finally got the young one in line and they got into the road successfully ONLY then did the male turkey move and lead away.
Once they got to the other side safely, the male came back onto the side of the road as if to acknowledge my patience.
You’ve seen it before with elephants and bears. I’ve watched video after video of animals seeming to acknowledge a human. I began to drive forward and once I got past him he turned and walked off with the mother and chicks. I was delighted. It was as if this male turkey came back to say thank you for letting us cross.
I wish I had videotaped the entire thing, but all I did was take this last photo as they were making their way to the side of the road before he came back to thank me. It was a truly wonderful experience!
You know, if a turkey and a human can work together don’t you think humans could begin to work together more often too? Even if some of them are turkeys. Let’s all work and play together to make the world a kinder, nicer, friendly, prosperous and positive place for everyone, everywhere, now and in the future. Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

“I’ve had this book for three months and am still reading and re-reading it every week. Years ago, a good friend recommended I get recordings of a workshop by this guy Rex. My friend loaned me the first hour recording, which I thought was a great intro — friendly, simple, charming — but very general with nothing really specific to learn from it.
Except my lifelong fear of public speaking was gone; this guy Rex somehow had stolen it while I was listening. I had no idea how that had happened. The rest of the workshop was just as surprising. And so is this book.
Read this book. It’s pure, concentrated Rex, and he will steal from you too. Excuses, justifications, and obstacles that keep you from being fully alive as yourself will be gone. You will find yourself acting more in alignment with your values. As a result, you will discover yourself more motivated and more fulfilled, not feeling motivated or feeling fulfilled, but acting motivated and acting fulfilled.
The writing is clear and simple, with principles and practices that are easy to experiment with and surprisingly transformative, freeing you to be yourself. I think this guy Rex really wants you, and every one, to be more actively, more intensely, yourself.”
