Spread the love

“‘4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.’ 1 Corinthians 13:4-* NIV

We need compassionate leadership, love-centered leadership, more than ever worldwide. One can not truly be loving to another unless one loves oneself first. This should always go without saying. Unfortunately it does not. We think leadership is power to influence.

Power to influence comes more powerfully when the interests of the people being influenced are in the leader’s heart. For that to be possible the leader must love his/herself so the leader can love and give to others from love, acceptance, respect and integrity.

Change Your Thoughts And You Transform Your Life

If one can’t love oneself, one can’t love or serve others. The world has been conditioned to think leadership is power. Leadership is not power. Leadership is the ability to listen and be responsive, to act with love and respect. Leadership is the ability to uplift and inspire.

It is the ability to be open and the wisdom to seek wise console from those smarter and wiser than you. That is why it is not puffed up, but humble, respectful and self-loving. The leader must be secure in oneself to hold the other people in their heart. Get this.

Broken people don’t make good leaders. Narcissistic people don’t make good leaders. Insecure people don’t make good leaders. Those who must be in the spotlight or seek to profit don’t make good leaders. Leaders are guides should help others become their best.

Change Your Thoughts And You Transform Your Life

A true leader does not call his/herself a leader because he is willing to do whatever he/she asked of others. True leaders are willing to do what others aren’t willing to do. A leader is open and accepting and above all respectful, patient and kind.

The leader wants others to surpass the leader. It is not about being the top dog but about helping others be the top dog. If you understand this there may be hope for you. If you don’t I’d question your ability to help others and lead in a positive way.

Power comes from love, kindness, patience, understanding, giving and compassion. You don’t have to grab or hold onto power when you are serving others well. When you add so much value to those you serve they will want you to remain. Get it? And you will. Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes
