John Burroughs was one of the 520 people Napoleon Hill modeled and studied to create the success philosophy Andrew Carnegie charged Hill to create. It became known as ‘The Laws of Success’ and later modified in ‘Think And Grow Rich.’
Hill lived with and got to know many of the individual richest men of the day and their families through introductions made by Carnegie. Many enjoyed much success and many also ended up with great loss, bankruptcy, medical issues, suicide, jail and more.
Hill states near the end of his life that Burroughs was the one person out of 520 who lived and died successfully because he had balance in his life. Hill pointed out that Burroughs sought peace of mind over just having lots of riches. He became successful due to his attitude.

Hill said many of the others died addicts, broke, insane and worse (as did many of their children) because they only sought money and power. Burroughs was more in tune with nature and balance of systems. I like Burroughs and this quote.
