“Some people choose the wrong mentor. They pick people who haven’t accomplished what they want to. They choose people who don’t walk their talk. While it is accurate to say we can learn from anyone, stop, and choose wisely. Choose the right mentor.

Don’t pick someone who didn’t succeed. Ignore them. We don’t know why they didn’t make it. We don’t know what they did or didn’t do. We don’t know if they quit too early. We don’t have that info. They can’t tell you how to get where they haven’t yet been.

We can learn from mistakes, and we should. Learn from yours. Along the way, even with a mentor, you may make mistakes. Even with a mentor there will be times you listen and follow and times you don’t. Learn from what works and what doesn’t. Correct the mistakes.

Your Decisions Determine Your Future Success – Choose Wisely

Lastly, not everyone can be the number one in the class, the world’s most famous movie star, or the president, etc.  That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try your best if that is what you want. Realize the odds may be against you but don’t let that stop you. Go for your dream!

You will get further attempting to make it than if you never try. The Wright Brothers continued to experiment until they got flying down. They didn’t let the voices of their critics dissuade them from pursuing flight. If they had, we might still be taking trains and boats.

Model and learn from the best. Model and learn from those who began as you did and now have what you want to have, be or do. Persist and keep the faith. Aim high. Don’t be deterred. You can live the life of your dreams. You can create your best life ever. Get it? Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes
