“During tough times the tough get going BUT sometimes you need to pause and reset. You need to stop, de-stress, refresh and renew. Here are some great suggestions that you can use during the Covid and election waiting ‘daze’ to relax and de-stress.

One. Have a loving comfort meal. Enjoy something like pasta. Maybe a glass of wine if you use alcohol. Or how about your favorite nonalcoholic beverage. It’s only a meal or two. Eating and thinking right can help you claim your life back and feel more resourceful.

Don’t worry about your fast, diet or routine. Gift yourself a couple meals. OR choose a meal within your food groups you enjoy and makes you feel comfortable, relaxed, maybe even sleepy. Get it? Below are some good foods that help you relax and de-stress.

I mentioned pasta because cooked tomatoes are good for relaxing. Whether in sauce or cooked alone. Avocados are good alone or in Guac. Tahini. Dark leafy vegetables, spinach in a simple salad, smoothie or with eggs. Salmon. Walnuts, 70% Dark Chocolate.

Nurture yourself. Turn of TV, computers and media. Let go. Relax!

Two. Light a scented candle or use essential oils to put a pleasant relaxing scent in the air, on your pillow or in your room. Scents have an immediate effect. Could be a ‘WOW’ to a more subdued effect. Lavender relaxes. Lemon refreshes. Find the best ones for you.

Three. Take a relaxing bath. Use some wonderful bath salts, essential oils or bubbly soap. Have a glass of wine or water. Light a candle. Soak in a dimly lit room. Allow yourself to just soak. Relax, let go and release. Feel the warmth soothing and rejuvenating you.

Four. Watch some funny shows. Comedy movies and TV.  Check into some stand-up comedy that makes you laugh and laugh and laugh. Read humorous books and articles. Laughter heals! Force yourself to laugh for 5 plus minutes daily as a morning meditation. It’s great!

Five. Exercise. Take a walk in nature. Hike, walk leisurely or swiftly or combination of both. Movement is good. Skip, jog or jump. Do something to move your body in a positive way.  Exercise changes your breathing and emotions. Yoga is good. Stretch and release
