“Everything you do with your mind affects your brain. You actually sculpt or shape your brain by what you think, imagine, expect, hope, believe and feel. How you feel is extremely important in the health and well-being of your brain! Mental exercises benefit the brain.

What you do inside your head affects neuroplasticity just as much as what you do in your external behaviors to the brain. How you focus attention, and on what is important. How you intentionally direct your mind, your attention and energy wires the neurons together.

Your brain is affected and responds for better or worse depending on how you intentionally use and direct it. Your thoughts, good or bad, affect it for better or worse. It’s why I continually remind you to learn to manage your mindset and feelings. You want healthy, right?

Here are some good practices for better mind and brain health which affect you overall. It makes a big difference what you do or don’t do! Whether you’re healthy, happy and successful overall, and enjoying life as much as you could, depends on how you think!

Meditation is important and beneficial. When you learn to manage your mindset you stop living and thinking by default. You begin to assert control over your brain, and mind and put them to work for you. Instead of your brain running as it would, it does as you want.

You actually alter brain structure, activity and outcome by choosing to become more aware when you interrupt your brain’s habits and direct it. By becoming aware in the present moment, by noticing your breath, thoughts and feelings you gain the upper hand.

You become aware of the default mode your brain runs on. By continuing these awareness practices you condition your brain to let go of your default habits and become healthier. You decrease stress, depression, and anxiety to begin experiencing greater well-being.

The less than glorious states of fear, depression, anxiety and stress limits the brain’s ability to grow new cells BUT you can make significant healthy changes practicing meditative awareness for two months according to research. 2 months! Isn’t this worth it to you?

Some people make a distinction between mindfulness and meditation. I don’t. Mindfulness, for me, is a Zen approach to becoming aware in everyday life. Bring your attention to your breath, thoughts or washing the dish while washing the dish.

Whereas, they think of mediation as sitting or lying still and becoming aware of breath or witnessing thoughts. It’s one and the same in similar yet, different ways. Dancing, laughing, singing, eating  walking and more can be meditative and mindfulness activities,

You can take charge of your health and well-being and create greater enjoyment in life, think and feel better when you add awareness practices, or meditation, to your daily routine. The benefits are wonderful and numerous! You gain so much. Do it.

You learn to direct attention to the present. You learn to let go of troubles. You detach from negative emotions and feelings and feel better more of the time. You free yourself up to discover more opportunities and more to feel grateful about. More becomes good!

Change Your Thoughts & Transform Your Life

You learn you are in charge. You’re not your thoughts, feelings or habits. You’re the one who has thoughts, feelings, behaviors and habits in the same you have a hand or foot or eye or tongue. Instead of being controlled, you’re in charge by becoming aware.

It’s one of the many reasons why, for 40 years, I’ve taught and included awareness practices and mediation in all my live and online training programs. There are so many benefits to begin to embrace through letting go and by becoming aware. Everything changes! I’ll share another important inner exercise later. For now, start meditating.
