“Introvert is a generalization. Some call the word a nominalization. A nominalization means a process that’s frozen. To change a frozen process one needs to get it flowing again. Melt the ice. Change the stuck state. We’re not things. We aren’t labels or a nominalization.

We only think we are!  We treat ourselves as if we’re sculpted from stone or locked into being a certain way. We think, or believe, change is hard. It isn’t. We just think it is. When we stop using the label, when we go beyond it, we breathe life into the sculpture.

We return to being a living process. Change occurs every moment. To free ourselves up so we change more easily than we believe we can, we need to change the label from ‘something’ that one wears through all time and space, into behaviors one has learned to do.

Some People Believe Their Own Lies And Stories They Make Up

Break it up. Turn it back into process. De-nominalize yourself. De-nominalize the label. We’ve learned all sorts of things. Some really cool learning and some very stupid, useless, negative learning. Everything we learn serves some function or purpose though.

People learned things they may wish they hadn’t. Here’s the important point. We learned to bite our nails, over eat, feel insecure, or feel confident, exercise routinely and feel great. We’re learning machines. We can learn to do nearly anything, and to change it, too.

Because we have learned so many things we can learn new things. Typically, we don’t because we nominalize ourselves and believe we’re stuck being a certain way. We aren’t, but we believe we are. We affirm that we are to ourselves and when talking with others.

Have The Courage To Doubt Your Limitations And Your Lies

Beliefs are rules we apply to ourselves, others and the world. We think these work all the time, govern all circumstances, in all places, and everyone should know and conform to them. Beliefs are only thoughts we accept, and act on, as if they’re true. They aren’t!

They aren’t real, yet they govern behavior. We include certain things because of beliefs and exclude others. We pay attention to certain things and not to others. Beliefs shape our perceptions and expectations. They determine what we do or don’t find in the world.

We tend to think what we believe IS how everything is, or works, and how people, and the world, work. We believe our beliefs are correct. They’re not. They’re only beliefs, interpretations, but we remain frozen because of them. They’re lies, we believe to be true.

Doubt Your Limiting Beliefs – Affirm Your Life Giving Beliefs

Hence, people believe and affirm, ‘I’m an introvert’ as if it’s true all the time, in all circumstances, with all people, and with few, if ever, exceptions. Get it? They wear the label and act as if they’re it.  We say things like, ‘I always do this’ or “it never changes’. Have you?

Perhaps, you do. While these sound like they’re true, they can’t be. We can’t always be exactly the same. Yet, people say, ‘I’ve been this way all my life.’ It may seem like it because that’s what they notice and affirm. Again, it is only a lie one tells oneself, repeatedly.

It can’t be ‘always’ or ‘never’, but that’s what the person thinks it is. There are counter-examples; or times, and places with other people when and where they behaved, thought or felt differently. They need to find those examples. Those examples are needed evidence.

They’re the counter-examples, the evidence they aren’t frozen or locked-in forever, that they routinely ignore while affirming the opposite over again to themselves. They need to  realize they’re not a block of ice, or a sculpted stone but a living, vibrant human.

You Are Not Your Hand – You Are Not The Hate You Wear

A live human who can make choices and changes. They’re a vibrant  human in process. Life is change. Everything changes. We change whether we realize it or not. We age slowly or we’d be shocked. Some things take time to notice how it’s different. Get it?

People affirm being stuck as they are. They label themselves, declare it as true, and live from their thought lies, or beliefs about what is, or isn’t, possible for them. People short-change themselves! We’re infinite possibilities and forever evolving, in spite of past learning.

People need to realize they’ve made some choices in the past, learned some thoughts, feelings and behaviors that don’t serve them as they’d like. They can choose to learn new thoughts, feelings and behaviors to change. We can change our conditioning and labels.

You Are Not The Labels You Have Adopted – Drop Them – Be Free

We can believe better, more positive and useful lies. That’s what wisdom, good taste and having choice is all about. We don’t have to stay a victim of negative, ‘bad’, beliefs or thought lies, we can swap the old lies for better more wonderful ones. Get it! It’s important.

People can change most of anything they want to change. It requires some flexibility in thinking. You need to  stop seeing the past learning and labels as a problem. Rather, come to view them, and accept them, as purposeful skills they learned. Skills have purpose.

In the right context, at certain times and places, with certain people, it can be an asset. There may be a time and place it is not a deficit or bad thing. Get it? It may not be a bad skill to have but it’s necessary  to be able to choose when and where to use it; to have choice.

Instead Of Being Stuck – Exercise Your Power To Choose – Move

Instead of being stuck people can learn to have new choices and exercise those choices. You can. I can. Because we’ve learned good things, and silly things, we can learn any new thing if willing. Change is easier than you think it is! Get it? It’s all thought. You can update yourself and live from new possibilities instead of old labels and restrictions. This is great news. Start looking into it. Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes
