“When taking up a new habit or routine. Reading, for example. I recommend you read positive, inspirational material first thing upon rising. Yes, you may do affirmations or meditation prior, but the point is to set your positive frame of mind and spirit for the day by spending time in a positive state. Affirmations or reading for 20 or 30 minutes or more is a great way to begin. It sets the tone of the day for you and opens you to possibilities.

Sometimes things come up and you don’t have the time to read what you’d set for yourself. Don’t blow it off. Reduce the amount you normally would read but read. If normally you read a few chapters, read one. If you can read a chapter, read a few pages. Can’t do that read a page, or a paragraph. Read just a sentence. THAT’ better than nothing. Keep the habit intact even when you can’t do as much. Stick with the routine. Understand this.

Be consistent. Persist in your own development. Be worth it enough to do it. You can do more later but take a moment to continue the habit. Jerry Seinfeld likened it to a chain. He says, don’t break the chain. We all know a chain is only as good as its weakest link. Stick with it. If you exercise and you can’t, then take a walk. Stand while you watch television. Don’t skip a day! Figure out how to take some small positive action to keep you on track.

DEVELOP THE POSITIVE ATTITUDE, MINDSET AND BELIEFS TO TRANSFORM YOURSELF

Develop and nurture your positive habits! AND one of the positive habits you absolutely want to nurture is consistency and persistence. Dedicate yourself to staying dedicated. The ROI is worth the effort. Successful people never let things interfere with what is important to them. When people cheat on their goals and skip a day thinking they will make it up, they don’t. It gets easier to blow it off the next time.

Excuses then rule. Blaming begins. Once you break the chain it is easier to break. Instead of developing and nurturing consistency, dedication and persistence people end up nurturing backsliding, feeling bad, and blaming. Keep your positive self-worth in place. Maintain a positive attitude about yourself and your practices, habits and routines. You want to nurture a healthy self-image and self-esteem not criticize through self-talk.

You want to believe in yourself. You don’t want to excuse yourself for not doing and then blame yourself or circumstances. There’s no gain in shame. The best way to stay on track is to stay on track. If you fall off the horse, get back on as soon as you can. Better to do a little than none. Don’t succumb to the temptation. Find a way to do something, anything, that constitutes staying on track and moving forward. You will benefit greatly.

DEVELOP THE POSITIVE ATTITUDE, MINDSET AND BELIEFS TO TRANSFORM YOURSELF

Maintain positive momentum and attitude. When you do the best, you can even if not the full practice you will not let yourself down. You can take pride in sticking with it. You will not have broken your commitment to yourself. This IS a big deal! Honor and respect yourself! When people break promises to themselves it whittles away at their commitment and self-worth. Each time adds more negative weight and makes it harder to stick at it.

It becomes a slippery slope. Never allow it in the first place. Stay on track and you will feel better. Obstacles arise. There are times when you won’t feel like it. Life happens but stay with it. Keep your commitment. Persevere! It’s important to keep your commitment in even the smallest way. When you follow through no matter what you keep your spirit up. When you keep going despite challenges you realize you can. You stuck with it.

SO, you feel better for doing so. You can believe in yourself and your word! Don’t let yourself down and you’ll win the game. Make your dreams come true step by step or drop by drop. Win the game. Why? Because winners cultivate winning. That is their habit. Winning is their default mode. Losers lose. Losing is their default mode. If you want to win, practice winning consistently. Develop the attitude of a winner. Want it enough to have it!

DEVELOP THE POSITIVE ATTITUDE, MINDSET AND BELIEFS TO TRANSFORM YOURSELF

Develop passion for your development and you will see yourself through. Muhammed Ali was known to say he hated training but did it anyway because being a champion was most important to him. It was what caused him to train even when he didn’t feel like it. His passion and desire to be the best took precedence to not training. You really can be, do or have anything you want if you will stay with making it happen.

Here’s a last important point for today’s blog. I encourage you to celebrate no matter what is going on. Understand everything is perfect as it is. You may not know yet how things work out but celebrate. Well, if you keep on track with promises you make to yourself, even if it is only a sentence, you have a reason to celebrate. Instead of criticism you can celebrate having done something. Get it?Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes
