“Never be afraid of negative emotions, weak or strong. In fact, in some ways, the more intense the negative emotions the better. ‘What?’ you say, ‘Are you crazy Rex? The more intense the negative emotion the better. WHY is that?’ Because strong or intense negative emotions are valuable indicators you can use to make positive changes in your life. Never fear them! Welcome them when they occur.

Pain, while unwanted, is a signal something is amiss. Something needs addressing. Never ignore it. Learn to understand it so you can facilitate healing. You may need to release and let go of things, or forgive yourself, others or circumstances. You may need to do that while you also seek proper medical attention. Healing takes time. Most problems don’t arise overnight. They arise slowly.

Some things take time to dissipate or heal. They grow slowly and leave slowly. Be patient. Negative emotions, like pain, are an alarm system, a signal alerting you. They show up to get your attention whenever something you are doing isn’t working. Pain and negative emotions can be like the dashboard indicators on your car that alert you to a potential problem. Learn to use them positively.

Don’t fear or ignore them. THEY GET US TO MOVE AND LEAVE OUR COMFORT ZONE AND SEEK NEW AND BETTER WAYS OF BEING, DOING AND HAVING or HEALTH AND HEALING. Get this! Most innovation is based on discomfort. It begins by discovering a problem or something we don’t like, don’t want and wish to improve. It’s the reason why we evolve and create new things.

We look for solutions instead of remaining stuck or as is. The negative feeling IS intense to get your attention that what you’re thinking or doing or feeling is not working AND to get up and go DO something! Negative feelings alert you so that you can do something about whatever has given rise to them. Pain is there not so you mask the symptoms with medication but so you can address the cause.

Embrace them. Welcome them for what they are. Signals alerting you to opportunity! All our emotions are useful indicators. They inform us when we are on target and moving towards our goals. They inform us when we’re off target. They alert us to when it might be prudent to slow down and use caution so that we remain safe or that we ought to speed up and get out of the way. Get it?

It’s a wise person who pays attention to and understands these emotional messages. When life gives you something you don’t like, the accompanying negative feelings alert you that something has shifted. The goal is to feel good most of the time. Why: Because when you are feeling good, optimistic and positive you are bathing yourself in healthy neurochemicals.

You’re enhancing your mental and physical wellbeing. Your immune system function is improved. When you are feeling marvelous your feelings let you know everything is going well. You experience improved wellbeing. You feel good. Your thoughts are aligned with feeling good. When that is the experience and there’s no resistance to feeling good, you’re able to see more possibilities.

You can recognize opportunities more easily. You’re better able to move ahead towards accomplishing your goals. You’re not conflicted in mind, body or spirit so you can better focus on creating what you want and you feel great! It’s how it should be! If you shift from that to what you don’t like you are now focused on what you do not want. You’ve changed focus.

You’ve shifted from the good to the not so good. You’ve taken your eyes off your goal and your wellbeing. Maybe you’re focused on circumstances or the distance between where you are now and the accomplishment of your goal. Or you focus on fear or pain.Instead of focusing on how wonderful everything is and will be, you might be thinking how everything sucks.

The feelings are intense when you’re feeling bad. BUT KNOW THIS: When you get to that frustrating, negative, angry place, when that last straw breaks the camel’s back, and you say NEVER AGAIN! This is a great place to be temporarily. These intense emotions cause you to decide. You can say, ‘Never again! I will not be broken! I will not be afraid! I will not be weak! I will not be fat!

I will not be a victim’ Or you can say, ‘I will be whole and complete. I will be strong. I will maintain my ideal weight. I will be a victor and a champion.’ When the shit hits the fan, when pain and fear and negativity arise, THIS IS the moment when change can occur! It’s the opening to recognize. You can seize that moment and choose to be different.

You noticed the dashboard alert and you do something about it. You heal yourself or you work with doctors and medicine. You leave the unwanted behind and move towards the better life you can create. You stop losing and start winning because you stop being stuck and start moving. You stop whining and start declaring success. It’s your moment to change. It’s the beginning. Be patient.

It may not change overnight but when you release and let go of the negativity, the fear, reasons, blames and excuses everything changes. From pain and suffering you get release and freedom. From what you thought was bad for you became the point of change for you. It’s why some people say the worst experience in their life was their best experience. They took charge. Stop traveling the old way and set a new direction. Your alert system is your wake-up call. Use it. Appreciate it. Be grateful. Learn from it. Love yourself and move forward.
